Phillies Charities, Inc. and MLB Debut Negro League Memorial Park Redesign Renderings

11:46 AM EDT

On Sunday, July 12, Major League Baseball and Phillies Charities Inc. officially announced the new Philadelphia Stars Memorial Park at Belmont Ave & Parkside Ave, debuting new renderings that showcase a comprehensive revitalization of the historic public space.

The project honors the legacy of the Philadelphia Stars, the city’s legendary Negro League team that played from 1933 to 1952, and preserves the rich history of Black baseball in the Delaware Valley. The plans feature a network of 3D baseball-themed sculptures, based on the real-life silhouettes of local community children. The project was designed in coordination with Mural Arts Philadelphia.

As part of MLB All-Star Week, Phillies Charities, Inc. and Major League Baseball made a combined investment of more than $5.5 million into communities in the city of Philadelphia, with projects that empower underserved communities by expanding access to baseball and softball for youth, supporting our veterans and providing essential education and nutritional resources. The 2026 All-Star Legacy Projects were commemorated throughout the week leading up to the 96th MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.
