PHS Garden Mobile Unveiled at Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys & Girls Club Volunteer Event
On Saturday, July 11, over 100 volunteers, including 2008 World Series champion Shane Victorino and those from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, joined Major League Baseball and Phillies Charities, Inc. to refurbish the Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys & Girls Club and the surrounding area.
Throughout the morning, volunteers helped refurbish the space, by painting and deep cleaning inside, while seeding, planting, landscaping and picking up litter outside.
The event also featured the unveiling of the PHS Garden Mobile, part of the All-Star Legacy Project. The new mobile resource center brings the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society directly into Greater Philadelphia neighborhoods, connecting residents with gardening resources, educational information and opportunities to get involved. The initiative will help deliver more than 20,000 pounds of fresh produce and distribute nearly 300,00 seed starters annually to communities in need.
As part of MLB All-Star Week, Phillies Charities, Inc. and Major League Baseball made a combined investment of more than $5.5 million into communities in the city of Philadelphia, with projects that empower underserved communities by expanding access to baseball and softball for youth, supporting our veterans and providing essential education and nutritional resources. The 2026 All-Star Legacy Projects were commemorated throughout the week leading up to the 96th MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.
