Fernando Tatis Calls Out Chan Ho Park on Twitter

In baseball, much like in life, you have good days and you have bad days. Then there are those days that are so bad they become great stories years later. Well, 14 years ago, Chan Ho Park had one of those days.

On April 23, 1999, Park, then with the Los Angeles Dodgers, had a rough start against the St. Louis Cardinals. Fernando Tatis was the primary reason why. With the bases loaded in the third inning, Tatis went yard for his first grand slam of the game. Did you notice how I said “of the game?” That’s because he did it again that night.

Now hitting two salamis in one game is a pretty amazing feat, but he took it to a whole other level. After his first grand slam, the Cardinals batted through the order, bringing Tatis to the plate with the bases loaded for a second time. He then hit a second grand slam off of Park, becoming the only player in Major League history to hit two grand slams in one inning. Off the same pitcher!

I remember watching that game as a kid. Even then I knew it was a big deal. So Chan Ho Park and Fernando Tatis, I tip my cap to both of you on the 14th anniversary of that incredible night. And I thank Tatis for tweeting some anniversary smack talk this afternoon.
