MLB.com Shop holiday sale extended, ends tonight

Holiday Shopping 2015 actually began the moment Wade Davis struck out Wilmer Flores looking on a 95-mph four-seamer and promptly replaced his game cap with a Royals Authentic World Series Champions 39THIRTY Stretch Fit Cap from New Era right there on the mound at Citi Field.

Now the season of giving revs up again at the MLB.com Shop, and those same caps (champagne not included) are among the obvious big sellers. The big three-day sale has been extended until 11:59 p.m. ET tonight: Buy one item and get a second for 40 percent off, plus free shipping on orders of more than $99.

Here are some things to think about on the way to Black Friday, Cyber Monday and all the joy in the days to come.

1. Say goodbye with a smile
David Ortiz is retiring after this season, and the new Emoji T-shirt collection includes that ebullient Big Papi likeness as a way to express your feelings. If you buy Ortiz's Gold Coin Photo Mint for $99, then that emo-T is only $14.39.

2. I know when that Hotline Bling
That can only mean one thing: Swarovski crystals. Order the Home Run Crystal Bracelet from that collection for $90, and then use your 40 percent off to get a Charm Watch by Sparo for only $50 instead of the usual $84.99. The women's department at the MLB.com Shop is bigger than ever.

3. My dog ate my slippers again. Any suggestions?
You need a bigger slipper. Like one giant slipper. The MLB Feetoes are a foot wide and 16 inches long, so you put both feet in one like a foot warmer; they cost less than $20 even before the sale.

4. There's Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom and ...
Have you seen the MLB.com Exclusive Bobbleheads? There probably just wasn't room for Noah Syndergaard on the one with Harvey and deGrom, but trust us when we say there is Thor galore at the Shop.

5. Dan Uggla is a free agent
Speaking of that, it's Ugly Sweater Party time again. MLB.com/shop is going way above and beyond for the occasion with men's and women's sweaters, slippers, reversible scarves and knit caps. They're all technically "ugly," but they have MLB team colors and logos. Are you kidding with the Mike Trout Player Sweater?

6. Pre-order 2016 Giants World Series championship gear
OK, we're just kidding about this one, at least we think. You can't really pre-order, even though it's going to be an even-numbered year and that means the Giants, winners in 2010, '12 and '14, are already thinking that way. What you can do is log in with your MLB.com account, make a wish list and see where it takes you.

7. Who said there's no Jeter stuff this year?
While Derek Jeter is posting players' stories and just waiting for his big Cooperstown day, we are still buying his stuff, because this sale includes a Yankees MLB.com Exclusive Derek Jeter 59FIFTY Fitted Cap by New Era. Seriously, take a look at this thing. Career highlights "laser etched in leather visor," a metallic platinum team logo signifying 20 years and more.

8. Joe Maddon won't make you wear a onesie ...
... but you can start adding these team-logo onesies to your cart and then keep an eye out as the collection grows in coming days.

9. Just give me the game-used goods
It's not part of the launch sale, but now is a good time to jump into the bidding at MLB.com/auction to find game-used items from Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winners. Game-worn jerseys from Trout, Buster Posey and Andrelton Simmons are among those on the block.

10. Five easy steps to gift success
One foolproof method many shoppers will take -- especially those who wait until the ninth inning -- is purchasing Online Gift Certificates. All you need are the five easy steps: To, Email, Message, Amount and From. Walk-off homer, everyone's happy.
