Huff injures knee in perfecto celebration

SAN FRANCISCO -- One negative development emerged from Matt Cain's perfect game: First baseman Aubrey Huff fell and bruised his right knee as he tried to scale the dugout railing for the postgame celebration.

Results of an MRI that Huff underwent Thursday were not immediately available. But manager Bruce Bochy said, "He's pretty sore. Which is not good news."

With nine road Interleague games in 10 days coming up on the Giants' schedule, Bochy had intended to use Huff frequently as a designated hitter. Bochy admitted that Huff's injury has forced him to re-evaluate his plans.

Though Bochy wouldn't say who he was considering at DH instead of Huff, he's likely to use Hector Sanchez, Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval at that spot. Sanchez could benefit from the extra at-bats; Sandoval and Posey would be able to rest their legs while still having potential impact as hitters.

Huff, 35, is batting .155 (9-for-58) with one home run and five RBIs in 32 games, including 14 starts.
