Independent program advisor appointed
Jeffrey M. Anderson, M.D., of UConn named to post
As independent program administrator, Dr. Anderson will be responsible for administering the program's testing requirements, monitoring the program's collection procedures and testing protocols, auditing the test results of the program, and administering the Therapeutic Use Exemption process. In addition, he will also prepare and release an annual public report on the program's findings.
Dr. Anderson is the director of sports medicine and the head team physician at the University of Connecticut, occupying those positions since 1994. He has been assistant clinical professor of family medicine at the University of Connecticut's Health Center since 1996 and the medical director for research in the Department of Kinesiology's Human Performance Laboratory in the Neag School of Education since 2005. Dr. Anderson serves as the chair of the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports. A graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, Anderson is board-certified in family medicine, with an added qualification in sports medicine.
Dr. Anderson succeeds Bryan W. Smith, M.D., Ph.D., who filled the role since 2006.
