Jessica Dunn Throws Out First Pitch at Blue Jays Game
There is never a dream too big. For some, this dream is throwing out a first pitch at a baseball game. For others, it's simply being able to see another day. On Sunday, 14-year-old cancer survivor Jessica Dunn showed that she is getting to see both dreams realized. Like she had done throughout her entire battle with cancer, Dunn stood on the field at the Rogers Centre donning a smile. Mere feet away crouched her best friend, mentor and inspiration: J.P. Arencibia. He was the reason she was on the field as he personally asked her to throw out the first pitch as an honor to him on his own bobblehead day. As she slowly inched her way into position thanks to the help of her cane, Dunn threw a strike over the plate. The crowd cheered as the two pals embraced. Thank you @jparencibia9! You are an amazing friend & I don't think I would have made it through this without you. pic.twitter.com/a6pzl19y4O As I wrote about previously, Jessica met Arencibia this past October. Since then, they have become close friends as Jessica has battled through her cancer. Not only has she fought her cancer like too many before her, she had her right leg amputated and now walks with a prosthetic. She is strong and says she owes her strength and good fortune to J.P.’s friendship. Jessica’s strength, determination and good fortune serve as an inspiration to all who know her story. None are more inspired than J.P. Arencibia himself. There is never a dream to big, thankful and humbled by today's honor! Best part was @jessdunnbrand strike! All things are possible! #Believe
