Dykstra released from prison

Former three-time All-Star Lenny Dykstra was released from a California prison.

The former Mets and Phillies outfielder was serving time for a series of offenses that included bankruptcy fraud and grand theft auto. Dykstra is now on three years' probation, must complete 500 hours of community service, participate in a substance abuse treatment program and pay $200,000 in restitution.

Dykstra, 50, had most recently received a 6 1/2-month sentence for hiding equipment and memorabilia from his playing days that were believed to have been part of his bankruptcy filing. He had already served seven months in custody while awaiting sentencing.

The term, however, ran concurrently with a three-year sentence he had received after pleading no contest to grand theft auto and providing a false financial statement.

Dykstra played 12 seasons with the Mets and Phillies from 1985 to '96, hitting .285 with 81 homers, 404 RBIs and 285 stolen bases.
