Twins sign trio to Minor League deals
Reliever Ledezma, infielder Peterson and catcher Rohlfing awarded contracts
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins signed three players to Minor League contracts, including former Major League reliever Wil Ledezma, the club announced Monday.
Ledezma, a nine-year big league veteran, last pitched in the Majors in 2011 with the Blue Jays. The 33-year-old has a career 5.40 ERA with 283 strikeouts and 196 walks in 396 1/3 innings. He pitched last season for Yucatan of the Mexican League, posting a 1.91 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings.
In addition to inking Ledezma, the Twins also signed first baseman Brock Peterson and catcher Dan Rohlfing to Minor League deals.
Peterson, 31, returns to the organization that drafted him, as he played in Minnesota's organization from 2003-2010 after being selected in the 49th round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft.
He's spent time with the Cardinals, Nationals and Dodgers organizations over the last three seasons, including a 23-game stint with the Cardinals in '13. He went 2-for-26 with two walks and two RBIs in his time in St. Louis. Peterson hit .301/.378/.480 with 15 homers and 67 RBIs in 117 games at Triple-A last year.
Rohlfing remains in Minnesota's organization, as he's spent the last eight years in the Minors since being selected by the Twins in the 14th round of the '07 Draft. The 25-year-old spent all of last year at Triple-A Rochester, hitting .205/.307/.311 with two homers, 17 doubles and 23 RBIs in 75 games.
Rohlfing joins Mark Hamburger, Danny Ortiz, Reynaldo Rodriguez, James Beresford, Eric Farris and Doug Bernier as 2014 Rochester Red Wings to re-sign with the Twins.
