Price not interested in joining Yanks, shaving beard

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- David Price could become a free agent in three years or he could potentially be traded by the Rays, but given those possibilities, the Rays left-hander recently told FoxSports.com that he would never be interested in becoming a member of the Yankees due to the team's policy regarding facial hair and the fact he has a beard.

Rays manager Joe Maddon chuckled when asked if he thought the prospect of allowing Price to keep his beard would enhance the Rays' chances of keeping the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner in the organization.

"Beards, earrings, tattoos, we like it all," Maddon said. "We definitely promote individuality around here. I'm all for that. When it comes down to attempting to coax or elicit discipline from forced behavior, I'm not into that whatsoever."
