Tufts activated from DL, heads to Triple-A

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have activated pitcher Tyler Tufts off the disabled list and assigned him outright to Triple-A Round Rock.

Tufts was purchased from Double-A Frisco on Aug. 31 and placed on the 15-day disabled list for surgery to repair a perforated bowel. He went a combined 2-1 with a 5.64 ERA in 19 relief outings with Round Rock and Frisco before he was placed on the disabled list on June 30.

Tufts was originally drafted in the 32nd round in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Indiana University. The move leaves the Rangers with 39 players on their 40-man roster.
