Ranking the Best Moments in Roy Halladay's Career

Roy Halladay earned his 200th career victory on Sunday. Since his career began in 1998, Halladay has appeared in 406 games. Here are my top four moments from his professional career thus far.

September 27, 1998 – Halladay proved how much talent he possessed in his second Major League start, taking a no-hitter into the ninth. But, with only one strike remaining in the game, Detroit Tigers slugger Bobby Higginson hit a solo home run, ending not only the no-no but also the shutout. Fortunately, it was the only hit the Tigers scored as the Toronto Blue Jays won 2-1 during the last game of their season.

October 6, 2010 – In his Postseason debut, Halladay took the mound and threw an eight-strikeout no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. This was his second no-hit bid of the year as he had also thrown a perfect game on May 29 against the then-Florida Marlins.

September 27, 2003 – For his last start of the 2003 season, Halladay secured his league-leading 22nd win of the season with a complete game, making him a lock for the AL Cy Young award. He also led the league in starts (36), complete games (9) and shutouts (2).

September 30, 2009 – I will always remember this game. Not because Halladay defeated Tim Wakefield to earn his 17th win, but because this was the last day that Halladay donned a Blue Jays jersey and the number 32.

There are a multitude of examples I could have chosen as favorites during Halladay’s career, and hopefully there will be plenty more!
