Rockettes perform during Home Run Derby
NEW YORK -- In the midst of some of Major League Baseball's best sluggers putting on a show in Monday night's Chevrolet Home Run Derby, the world-famous Rockettes put on a dazzling performance of their own in front of the Citi Field crowd.
Founded in 1925, the Rockettes are known around the globe for their precision dance routines, glitz and glamour and their signature move -- eye-high leg kicks entirely in unison. It was all on display Monday during an abbreviated routine atop the first-base dugout following Michael Cuddyer's first-round performance.
Since 1935, the Rockettes have performed out of Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. They are also the stars of the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular," a one-of-a-kind celebration of the winter holiday season. More than 3,000 women have danced as members of the legendary Rockettes throughout the act's illustrious history.
Along with their annual performances, the Rockettes have starred in a number of marquee events over the years, including the 1988 Super Bowl halftime show and President George W. Bush's 2001 inauguration. They have also made appearances at the Tony Awards and on the hit reality television show Dancing with the Stars.
