Rangers assign four outright to Triple-A

Pitcher Bonilla also lost to waiver claim by Dodgers

The Rangers assigned four players outright to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday and lost another, right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla, on waivers to the Dodgers.

Texas announced that infielder Kyle Blanks, catcher Carlos Corporan and outfielders Antoan Richardson and Ryan Strausborger have been assigned to Round Rock. Blanks, Corporan and Richardson can refuse the outright assignment and become free agents, while Strausborger cannot.

The Rangers now have 38 players on their 40-man roster, plus four (Alex Claudio, Yu Darvish, Jurickson Profar and Nick Tepesch) on the 60-day disabled list.

Blanks ended the season on the 60-day disabled list following surgery on both feet. He hit .313 with three home runs and six RBIs in 18 games with the Rangers.

Corporan didn't play for the Rangers in the second half following a left thumb sprain. He batted .178 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 33 games with Texas.

Richardson spent the entire year on the 60-day DL, following lower back surgery in March and a broken foot suffered during a Minor League rehab assignment in July. Strausborger hit .200 in 31 games for the Rangers this season, his first in the Majors.

Bonilla, 25, was claimed off waivers Wednesday by the Dodgers. He spent the entire season on the Rangers' 60-day DL after undergoing Tommy John surgery on April 15. He made his big league debut with the Rangers in 2014, going 3-0 with a 3.05 ERA in five appearances.
