Hunter makes sure to spend time with four sons

Torii Hunter has hit and robbed plenty of home runs throughout his 17-year career. One of the highlights of his time in the big leagues, however, is sharing those moments with his four sons.

"The one thing they wanted to do when they were young, from 3 to like 12, they wanted to be at the baseball park with me every day," Hunter said. "They'd come to the baseball park and stay all day."

Hunter, who has played with the Twins, Angels and Tigers, is known for his homer-saving grabs. Apparently, his sons wanted to be like Hunter, too, and would try to emulate him before games.

"Even though you're trying to get prepared for the game, you have to forget about that and be a father for a minute," Hunter said. "So I'd go out there on the field with them and play catch, let them take BP, run around with them, pretend like they're robbing home runs, different things like that."

Balancing fatherhood and a big league life hasn't been an issue for Hunter, who owns a .279 career average with 314 home runs and nine American League Gold Glove Awards.

He also has a reputation for being a great teammate and an all-around good guy. And that shows through with how he has tried to balance his career and life.

"Baseball is only for a minute, but what you pour into your children is for a lifetime," Hunter said. "That's what's special for me."
