Key things to watch for in today's games

Wednesday packs a big punch with games spread out over the course of the day.

Here are five things to watch for:

• Harrison returns: ARI @ TEX, 8:05 p.m. ET
It's been 14 long months since Texas left-hander Matt Harrison last pitched in the Majors because of spinal fusion surgery, but he'll toe the rubber once again against the D-backs Wednesday at Globe Life Park. Harrison, who was 1-3 with a 6.23 ERA during his rehab assignment, will face Jeremy Hellickson (0-3 with a 3.86 ERA lifetime against Texas).

• July jump: TOR @ CWS, 8:10 p.m. ET
A flip of the calendar might have been all that John Danks needed last week, when he put his June troubles (an 0-4 record and ERA close to 7.00) behind him and opened July with a strong outing (seven shutout innings against Baltimore). Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison is dealing with a different set of splits: he has a 9.00 ERA on the road vs. a 2.12 ERA in Toronto.

• Tinker time: OAK @ NYY, 7:05 p.m. ET
After a quick break from the rotation to sharpen his pitches, Yankees southpaw CC Sabathia is back in business Wednesday against the A's. He's allowed 10 runs over 12 innings in his last two starts, and now will come up against fellow left-hander Scott Kazmir, who threw eight scoreless innings his last time out.

• #FinalVote help: PHI @ LAD, 10:10 p.m. ET
After being selected to the last four All-Star Games, Clayton Kershaw is one of 10 Final Vote candidates to head to Cincinnati this year. The defending National League MVP and Cy Young Award winner is tied for the Major League lead with 147 strikeouts and has a 2.67 ERA in his last four outings -- but the Dodgers are winless in them.

• deGrom dominating: NYM @ SF, 3:45 p.m. ET
Young Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom is rolling heading into his start against the Giants, with a 1.55 ERA over his last nine outings dating back to May 16. But a start for Jake Peavy at AT&T Park -- his first since being sidelined for nearly three months with a strained back -- is good news for the Giants right-hander, who is 11-8 with a 3.40 ERA lifetime there.
