What to watch: Cespedes, Hamels debuts

The Trade Deadline has passed and now there are plenty of new-look teams around the league. Each of them will be in action on Saturday, in a packed day that features 15 games.

Here are five things to watch for:

Welcome to Arlington, Cole: SF @ TEX, 8:05 p.m. ET
Ace left-hander Cole Hamels will make his first start for the Rangers since being traded from the Phillies -- and also his first appearance since no-hitting the Cubs last weekend at Wrigley Field. Hamels hasn't started in Arlington since 2008, and is 6-4 with a 4.21 ERA lifetime against the Giants.

Hamels will be the first pitcher in big league history to throw a no-hitter in his last start before a midseason trade. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, this matchup vs. righty Chris Heston marks the first time since 2010 that two pitchers who threw a no-hitter will match up against one another later in the same season of each no-no. It happened twice in 2010: the D-backs' Edwin Jackson faced the Phils' Roy Halladay on July 28, and the Rays' Matt Garza faced the A's Dallas Braden on Aug. 22.

Mets get their man: WAS @ NYM, 7:10 p.m. ET
Just minutes before Friday's Trade Deadline, the Mets got someone to satisfy their outfield needs: Yoenis Cespedes, in a deal with the Tigers. They added him, in part, to help keep up with the powerhouse Nationals in games like Saturday's. Washington's Joe Ross will start against New York's Jacob deGrom, who is 7-2 with a 1.37 ERA since May 16.

Life after Latos: SD @ MIA, 7:10 p.m. ET
Jose Urena steps into the spot in the Marlins' rotation previously held by Mat Latos (who was dealt this week to the Dodgers), and will make his eighth start of the year for Miami. In his last big league start on June 28 against the Dodgers, he allowed one earned run in five innings.

Brooks debuts in Oakland: CLE @ OAK, 9:05 p.m. ET
Right-hander Aaron Brooks, acquired by the A's in the deal that sent Ben Zobrist to Kansas City, will make his first start with Oakland on Saturday against the Indians. It's only the second start of his career, and it comes against Cody Anderson, who had an historic start to his big league career, but has run into trouble lately. He's given up 11 earned runs on 18 hits in the last 8 1/3 innings.
