White Sox partnership brings gear to youth teams

CHICAGO -- The White Sox are partnering with several Chicago-area youth baseball leagues to provide all players and coaches with jerseys and caps for the spring baseball season, as announced by the team on Wednesday.

These particular youth teams will be wearing White Sox uniforms, with the teams being differentiated by various styles of the team's uniform. Those various styles include white with black pinstripes, black, grey and 1983 throwback jerseys, to name a few.

Downers Grove Youth Baseball League, Elmhurst Youth Baseball League, Oak Park Youth Baseball/Softball League and the Orland Park Youth Baseball League are the youth baseball organizations partnering with the White Sox in 2013. Several of the youth leagues participating in the partnership have been strong supporters of White Sox group ticket programs in the past.

"The White Sox are proud and active supporters of youth baseball in Chicagoland," said senior vice president of sales & marketing Brooks Boyer in a press release. "Our partnerships with local youth leagues are about much more than just providing caps and jerseys. They also are about helping young kids learn to play the game the right way, enjoy the game and create more players and fans of the game."

"Oak Park Youth Baseball/Softball is honored and grateful for the generous expansion of our 33-year partnership with the Chicago White Sox," said Bill Sullivan, president of Oak Park Youth Baseball/Softball. "Our coaches and players will benefit far beyond great-looking uniforms. This alliance will result in improved coaching resources and will enhance our ability to be certain that every child in Oak Park who wants to play can fully participate in the game we love."

Instructional videos featuring White Sox players and coaches also will be provided by the organization to the leagues throughout the season. In addition, the team will recognize a player from each league during every White Sox homestand by having the young athletes' photos and names featured on the center field scoreboard.
