D-backs' Parra racks up three hits in Venezuelan Winter League action

Caracas 5, Margarita 3, 11 innings
Caracas broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the top of the 11th inning to eke out a win on the road. Jesus Guzman's two-out, two-run single did the trick, capping off a big day for Caracas that included three hits for D-backs outfielder Gerardo Parra and two for former big leaguer Bobby Abreu. Zulia 9, Aragua 1
Zulia broke open a tie game with eight runs in the last three innings, including a five-run outburst in the ninth. Ernesto Mejia, Jose Flores and Sandy Leon each drove in two runs for Zulia, which got six innings of three-hit, one-run ball from Alex Torres. Hector Gimenez drove in Aragua's run. Box score

Magallanes 13, Lara 2
Magallanes built a 7-0 lead in the first three innings and held on in a rout. Mario Lisson and former big leaguer Juan Rivera each went 3-for-5, and Lisson hit a homer in the victory. Renny Osuna also had three of Magallanes' 17 hits. David Bromberg pitched six solid innings for the win. Box score

Caribes 7, La Guaira 5
Cory Aldridge provided the bulk of the dramatics as Caribes rallied from a one-run deficit in the ninth inning for the win. Aldridge hit a two-out, two-RBI double to give Caribes the lead, and they tacked on an insurance run. Aldridge finished with four hits. Royals slugger Salvador Perez went 2-for-5 for La Guaira. Mexican Pacific League

Mexicali 8, Obregon 1
Mexicali scored six runs in the third inning and didn't look back. Xorge Carrillo went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs for Mexicali, which also got a two-run homer from Ricky Alvarez. Box score

Culiacan 9, Hermosillo 5
Culiacan got a balanced attack of three runs in each of the first, sixth and seventh innings. Felix Perez was the offensive star of the game for los Tomateros, hitting two home runs and driving in six. Box score

Guasave 6, Mazatlan 4
Guasave scored one run in the second inning and five more in the third and spent the rest of the game on cruise control. Jose Rodriguez had two hits, including a home run, for Guasave, and Eduardo Arredondo added three hits and scored two runs. Blake Gailen went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs for Mazatlan. Los Mochis 5, Navojoa 2
Gilberto Mejia went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and Los Mochis held on to beat Navojoa on the road. Sebastian Valle also chipped in three hits for the winning team, including a home run. Box score

Dominican Winter League

Licey 5, Aguilas 2
Licey built a 5-0 lead and held on for the victory. Anderson Hernandez hit a solo home run and Bryan Holaday hit a three-run homer for the winning team, which got six innings of two-hit, one-run ball from Mitch Atkins. Andy Marte drove in a run for Aguilas. Box score

Estrellas 3, Gigantes 0, 10 innings
Estrellas fought through nine scoreless innings and finally prevailed by putting up three runs in the top of the 10th on a bases-loaded double by Michael Martinez. Gigantes starter Rudy Owens and Estrellas starter Evan MacLane were stellar, pitching a total of 12 1/3 shutout frames. Box score

Toros 4, Escogido 1
Elih Villanueva pitched a gem for Toros, shutting down Escogido in seven scoreless innings on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Hector Gomez had three hits for the winning team, with Esteban German, Joey Terdoslavich and Jason Rogers adding two apiece. Box score

Puerto Rican Liga de Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente

Carolina 3, Santurce 1
Nao Higashihama pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out six for the win. Enrique Hernandez and Anthony Garcia each had an RBI for Carolina. Jonathan Singleton homered for Santurce. Box score

Ponce 3, Mayaguez 1
Ponce broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and held on. The biggest hit was Jordan Lennerton's two-out RBI single in that frame. He finished with two hits and is batting .336 this winter. Right fielder Luis Montanez drove in Mayaguez's lone run. Box score
