Puig shows off his many flips on 'Off the Bat'

NEW YORK -- The eighth episode of "Off the Bat" airs at 11 p.m. ET Tuesday on MTV2, and this one features Yasiel Puig bat flips, Carlos Gonzalez racing cars, Dee Gordon answering questions from left field, and a message from David Ortiz to fellow Boston star Tom Brady.

And oh, yes, Mariano Rivera returns to the mound.

With the Dodgers in New York this week, a pair of them came by the MLB Fan Cave at Fourth Street and Broadway on Monday's off-day. Gordon, who enters the series vs. the Mets with a Major League-leading 25 steals, is the in-studio guest with a live audience taping. Puig, co-Player of the Week in the National League, hit the streets nearby along with host Fat Joe, helping New Yorkers mark milestones in their lives with a ceremonial bat flip.

Gonzalez, the Rockies' All-Star outfielder, puts his love of fast cars to the test on a remote control racetrack with host Melanie Iglesias.

Rivera, enjoying retirement during his Hall of Fame waiting period, hits the pitcher's mound again. This time it is to give host Chris Distefano a taste of what it feels like to step into the batter's box against the legendary closer.

Ortiz is the series executive producer, and he will be featured again in a segment that sends a message to the New England Patriots quarterback. In addition to Big Papi, previous episodes of "Off the Bat" have featured in-studio guests Robinson Cano of the Mariners, Bryce Harper of the Nationals, Adam Jones of the Orioles, CC Sabathia of the Yankees, David Price and Chris Archer of the Rays, Eric Young Jr. of the Mets, and Cardinals starting pitchers Adam Wainwright, Shelby Miller and Michael Wacha.

"Off the Bat" is a weekly 30-minute series hosted from the MLB Fan Cave at 11 ET each Tuesday night. Each week, MLB players will be in-studio for interviews and segments with series hosts Sway, Fat Joe, Distefano and Iglesias, spotlighting the stars' personalities and passions. Every episode will also feature on-location segments with players.
