Full name is Ryan David Glynn... A 1992 graduate of Churchland High Schoolin Portsmouth... Graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1996... Was First Team All-Southern Conference in 1995 after hitting .287, 14HR, 58 RBI with a school-record 16-2B as an OF and DH... Finished career with 126 RBI ranking 2nd in VMI history.
2005
Was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays organization in a Minor League trade in May and ended up appearing in five games, including three starts, with Oakland...went 0-4 with a 6.88 ERA ...allowed a .320 opponents batting average, including .250 (9-for-36) against right-handed hitters and .385 (15-for-39) against left-handed hitters...opponents were just 2-for-17 (.118) when leading off an inning, but they batted .647 (11-for-17) with runners in scoring position...yielded five home runs in 17.0 innings and has now allowed 41 home runs in 226.1 career innings in the Majors, an average of 1.63 per nine innings...selected from Triple-A Sacramento on June 3 and started that day against Toronto...was the losing pitcher in the A's 6-2 loss, but matched his career high with six strikeouts (June 5, 2000 vs. Los Angeles)...would go on to lose each of his three starting assignments (11 er in 15.0 ip, 6.60 ERA)...moved to the bullpen following his start on June 16 and took the loss in his first relief outing on June 22 at Seattle, giving him four losses in four appearances...did not pitch in the A's next 11 games and made his final appearance, in relief, on July 6 at Toronto (0.1 ip, 2 h, 2 r, 2 er) before he was sent outright to Sacramento on July 13...combined for a 5-5 record and a 4.19 ERA (43 er in 92.1 ip) in 20 games, 17 starts, at Triple-A Syracuse and Sacramento...allowed a .249 opponents batting average, which included a .218 (39-for-179) mark against right-handed hitters and .282 (48-for-170) against left-handers...tossed six or more innings in just seven of his 17 starts, allowed two runs or fewer 10 times and walked two batters or fewer 10 times...was 4-5 with a 4.00 ERA (39 er in 87.2 ip) in his 17 starting assignments and 1-0 with a 7.71 ERA (4 er in 4.2 ip) in three relief appearances...began the season at Syracuse in the Toronto organization and went 2-4 with a 6.27 ERA in nine games, six starts...allowed a .283 opponents batting average, including .364 (12-for-33) with runners in scoring position...made three of his first four appearances in relief but his final five assignments were all starts...allowed 11 runs in 11.2 innings over his final two starts, both losses, before being traded to the A's organization on May 14 for cash considerations...was assigned to Sacramento and went 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA in 11 starts with the River Cats...allowed a .225 opponents batting average, including .180 (9-for-50) with runners in scoring position...went 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA (3 er in 21.0 ip) over his first three starts before he was called up by Oakland...tossed a season-high eight shutout innings and struck out a season-high eight batters on May 29 against Salt Lake in his final start before his promotion to Oakland...returned to Sacramento in July and had no decisions in his first two starts (3 er in 8.2 ip) before allowing six runs in five innings to tie a season high on Aug. 4 against Albuquerque...went 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA (6 er in 20.1 ip) over his final five regular season starts...that included a stint on the disabled list from Aug. 20-29 with muscle spasms in his back...made one postseason start for Sacramento and had a no decision in Game 2 of the Pacific Coast League Semi-Finals, a 7-4 River Cats win (6.0 ip, 4 h, 3 r, 3 er, 2 bb, 3 so).

Was signed to a minor league contract by the Blue Jays as a free agent on June 2, 2004 after being released by the Atlanta Braves organization on May 29, 2004... Signed a minor league contract with the Braves on Jan. 9, 2004... Had contract purchased by Toronto from Syracuse (AAA) on Sept. 3... With the Blue Jays was 1-0 with a 4.05 ERA in six games, two starts... AS A STARTER: First two appearances with the Blue Jays was as a starter... Was 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA (10.0 IP)... Made Blue Jays debut on Sept. 5 vs. OAK... Started and won 13-5 after working 5.0 innings (4H, 2R/ER, HR, 4BB, 2HB, 5K)... Was first big league win since May 5, 2001... IN RELIEF: Appeared in four games and did not receive a decision... Posted a 3.60 ERA out of the bullpen in 10 innings of work... Last four appearances of the season were all in relief... Worked a career high 4.0 innings of relief on Sept. 16 vs. BAL (2H, BB, 3K)... WHAT THE HITTERS THOUGHT: Held opponents to a .250 average with four home runs... As a starter opponents batted .231, while in relief held opponents to a .270 mark... IN THE MINORS: Combined to go 8-3 with a 3.94 ERA in 27 games, 16 starts at triple-A Syracuse and Richmond... With Syracuse was 7-2 with a 3.40 ERA in 16 starts with the SkyChiefs... Won his last three decisions over his final seven starts at Syracuse... Was 6-1 on the road with a 2.22 ERA in seven starts... Was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in nine starts at home... With Richmond made 11 relief appearances and was 1-1 with a 5.60 ERA... Was on the disabled list from Apr. 19 to May 4.
