Graduated from Instituto Victegui High School in Venezuela...lettered in baseball, basketball and volleyball in high school...signed by the Colorado Rockies as a non-drafted free agent, 5-14-98...obtained from Colorado in exchange for RHP Bryan Rekar and assigned to Wilmington on 5-18-02. Went 2-1 with 1 save and a 2.25 ERA in 17 games before being placed on the Disabled List on 7-22-02 with shoulder soreness...made 42 appearances for Wilmington in 2003, tying Robbie Morrison for the team lead...went 3-0 in 4 starts for the Blue Rocks...went 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA in 7 games in June.

Posted a 6-4 record and 3.28 ERA in 19 games (18 starts) for Double-A Birmingham, after the White Sox acquired the right-hander from Kansas City...allowed only 93 hits in 96 innings, striking out 71 and walking 34...finished with a 2-0 record and 2.67 ERA over eight games and three starts for the Double-A Wichita Wranglers...gave up 22 hits and struck out 21 over 30 1/3 innings...allowed five earned runs over 3 1/3 innings during one Major League start with the Royals.
