Made his 1st career Opening Day roster...Was optioned to Lehigh Valley (AAA) on 4/9...Had a team-best 17.2-inning scoreless streak, 6/23-7/10...Lost a no-hitter with 1 out in the 6th inning, 7/5 vs Pawtucket...Recalled from Lehigh Valley on 7/20 and made his only ML appearance that night at STL (L, 3.0 IP) when Jamie Moyer left game with an injury...Optioned back to Lehigh Valley on 7/25 where he finished the season...Held opponents to a .208 avg (27-130) with RISP and a .192 avg (10-52) with RISP & 2 outs...Ranked 2nd on the staff with 14 quality starts...His win on 9/1 at Pawtucket was the 19th in his Lehigh Valley career, the most in club history
2009
Began the season with Lehigh Valley (AAA)...Pitched a season-high 8.0 scoreless innings, 6/27 vs Norwich (5 H, BB, 7 SO)...Pitched at least 7.0 innings in 10 of his 25 games...Won 5 consecutive starts, 5/26-6/16...Allowed 3 ER or less in 17 of his 25 games...Was recalled on 5/16 and earned his 1st ML win in his 1st ML start that night at WSH (4.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO); earned the win despite not pitching 5.0 innings due to the game being rain-shortened during the 5th inning...Optioned back to Lehigh Valley following the game...Was recalled 2 more times: 7/23 & 9/11...Optioned to Lakewood (A) on 9/13 during the South Atlantic League championship series

Went a combined 9-12, 4.59 ERA, 42 BB, 106 SO in 25 starts between Reading (AA), Clearwater (A) and Lehigh Valley (AAA)...Began the season at Reading ...Was on the disabled list at Reading (turf toe on right foot), 5/30-6/16...Threw two CG with Clearwater, the first a 7.0-inning SHO, 6/27 at St. Lucie (gm 2) and the 2nd, 7/21 at Jupiter (W, 9.0 IP, ER)...Was transferred back to Reading in early August and went 3-1, 4.00 ERA (12 ER, 27.0 IP) in 4 starts, 8/6-22...Had a season-high 8 SO, 8/22 at Trenton (W, 7.0 IP, 2 H, R, 0 ER) and was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week, 8/18-24...Had his contract purchased on 8/27 and pitched 1.0 scoreless inning in relief in his ML debut that night vs NYM; was optioned to Reading following the game...Was transferred to Lehigh Valley where he made his final start of the season, 8/31 at Pawtucket (L, 7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER).
