Graduated from St. Mary's High in Lynn, Mass...while at St. Mary's, posted a 24-1 record on the mound...was also a first-team All-New England quarterback, passing for over 5,100 yards and 58 touchdowns along with 21 rushing touchdowns ... was the Boston Globe Player of the Year in football as a senior...also attended Salisbury (Conn.) Prep School. Selected by the New York Yankees in the 36th round of the 2008 Draft, but did not sign. Enrolled and played at Clemson in 2009, becoming the first draft-eligible freshman ever to be selected in the draft ... was 5-6 with a 4.92 ERA in 17 starts for the Tigers, striking out 96 in 86.0 innings. His sister, Lindsay, played soccer at Williams (Mass.) College while another sister, Alexandra, played soccer at Trinity (Conn.) College.
2013
Chris pitched a majority of the season for Omaha (AAA), before being called up to the Major Leagues on September 18 ... pitched in two games for the Royals, making his big league debut September 24 at Seattle. Earned Omaha Pitcher of the Year honors from the KC organization and was also named a PCL All-Star. Tied for fifth in the PCL with 10 victories, including three in his first four starts...also ranked third in the league in innings pitched (159.2), sixth in ERA (3.55) and ninth in WHIP (1.33). Carried a perfect game into the seventh inning of the Triple-A National Championship on September 17 vs. Durham ... fanned eight over 7.0 innings, earning a 2-1 victory.
2012
Chris split his 2012 season between Northwest Arkansas(AA) and Omaha (AAA)...Posted his fourth professional complete game on August 11 at Tucson, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits in 9.0 innings
in a 7-2 victory...Was added to the Royals 40-man roster on November 20.
2011
Chris spent the entire season with Double-A Northwest Arkansas and experienced an up-and-down campaign ... Finished third in the Texas League with 126 strikeouts, but also walked 78 which was the second-most in the
league ... Experienced more success away from Arvest Park, posting a 4.41 ERA in 12 road starts against a lofty 6.63
ERA in 15 starts at home.
2010
Opened the season with Wilmington (A Advanced) and was 6-3 with a 2.99 ERA in 15 starts, being named by
the Royals organization as the Wilmington Pitcher of the Year...Also named to the Carolina League All-Star team...was 4-0 in his last 5 starts prior to his promotion with a
1.36 ERA...Was promoted to NW Arkansas (AA) in July and made his Class AA debut on July 6...made just 4 starts for
the Naturals before being shut down for precautionary reasons with an injury.
