Began season with Triple-A Indianapolis, where he was used primarily as a reliever for first time in career... Was not charged with an earned run in eight straight appearances (13.1 IP) from Apr. 26 through May 22... Went 2-0 with a 1.84 ERA (14.2 IP - 3 ER) and a 0.48 WHIP in 10 appearances during month of May... Had a 3-0 record, 2.28 ERA (27.2 IP - 7 ER) and a 0.90 WHIP in 18 appearances (one start) when he was selected to Pittsburgh’s big league roster, June 17... Struck out three batters while tossing 1.2 scoreless innings in MLB debut with Pirates, June 17 vs. San Francisco... Threw 56 pitches in eighth inning, July 1 vs. Milwaukee and allowed eight runs (7 ER)...The 56 pitches were the most in a single frame for any MLB pitcher in 2022 and the most since San Francisco’s Russ Ortiz tossed 61 pitches in second inning, July 26, 1999 vs. St. Louis.
