JACOB HAYES COZART...Played three years at North Carolina State, 2022-24...Finished his junior season hitting .305 (68-for-223) with 19 HR, 54 RBI, 52 BB, a .601 slugging percentage and a 1.038 OPS...The 2024 All-ACC First Team selection was named a Buster Posey Award finalist following his performance this spring (also named Perfect Game Second Team All-American)...Prior to attending NC State, he prepped at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina, where he earned Under Armour All-American and All-State honors his senior season...Brother, Caleb, played four years of college baseball and UNC and UNC Greensboro...Dad, Charles, played baseball at Central Florida from 1993-96, and Mom, Michelle, played volleyball at Central Florida from 1993-96...Younger brother, Sam, is a pitcher at the University of Texas...Older brother, Caleb, was player of the year in the Southern Conference at UNC Greensboro in 2024...Grew up a Cleveland fan, big fan of Cody Allen...Dad coached Allen at High Point and UCF (Jacob was a batboy for High Point during Allen's tenure).

Was named a Midwest League All- Star at catcher, starting the year at High-A Lake County...Enjoyed a pair of 11-game on-base streaks, June 26-July 13 and July 20-Aug. 5...Posted a .375 on-base pct. over his last 15 games for the Captains (four XBH, 10 RBI, 11BB)...Promoted to Double-A Akron on August 11...His .720 OPS for the remainder of the year ranked sixth on the Akron club....Posted a .308/.383/.423/.806 slash line in final 13 games with the Ducks, including a four-hit, three-run tilt on Aug. 17 at Reading...Combined on the year slashed.289/.358/.386/.744 vs. LHP.
