In 1995 graduated from Exeter (CA) Union High School...attended Fresno State University in Fresno, California and Chapman University in Visalia, California.
2007
Pitched in the Brewers' organization and combined to finish 16-6, 4.07 with 1 shutout in 28 starts at Class AA Huntsville and Class AAA Nashville...was a Pacific Coast League All-Star and that league's Co-Pitcher of the Year...was TOPPS' Class AAA Lefthanded Pitcher of the Year...his 16 wins ranked T5th among all minor leaguers...with 12 wins for Nashville ranked T2nd in the PCL...began the season with Huntsville and went 4-2, 4.45 in 11 starts before he was promoted on 6/1...finished the season 12-4, 3.87 in 17 starts for the Sounds...averaged just 1.55 walks per 9 innings while pitching in the PCL, second-best ratio in the league...threw his only shutout of the season in a 4-0 win vs Sacramento on 7/30 (9ip, 7h, 1bb, 6k, 98pch)...pitched for Hermosillo in the Mexican Winter League (7gs, 2-2, 2.84, 38ip, 34h, 7bb, 35k).
2006
In January was signed by the Mariners to a minor league contract and began the season with their Class AA affiliate in San Antonio...was released on 6/21...was signed by Long Beach of the independent Golden Baseball League and after 2 starts there his contract was purchased by the Athletics...finished the season at Class AAA Sacramento.
2005
Spent the season with Long Beach of the independent Golden Baseball League.
2004
Began the season in the Giants' organization at Class AAA Fresno...was traded to the Athletics for cash on 7/16...combined to finish 6-7, 5.78 in 23 starts and 8 relief apps.
2003
Launched professional comeback with double-A Erie in Detroit organization, working in 19 games for Seawolves...was 1-4 with 4.00 ERA (36er, 81.0ip) in those outings, which included 10 starts...was not cleared to pitch until June, and did not fully hit stride until season's final month...was excellent down stretch, fashioning 2.48 ERA (11er, 40.0ip) over his final 6 outings (5 starts).
2002
Missed entire season following colonectomy due to ulcerative colitis...was forged to undergo 3 surgeries after losing 60 pounds of weight...all 3 procedures were performed by Dr. John Eggenberger and occurred March 17, June 21 and Sept. 6...was placed on 60-day Disabled List March 22.
2001
Completed rise through Tigers organization, being recalled from triple-A Toledo July 7...made ML debut with start July 16 at Cincinnati, suffering loss after allowing 5 runs on 7 hits over 5.1 innings...fanned Ken Griffey, Jr. in 1st inning for initial ML strikeout...made 7 consecutive starts to open big league career, losing each of 1st 4...in fact, lost 6 straight decisions before earning 1st ML victory Sept. 22 at Boston...worked 1.2 innings of hitless, scoreless relief for win over Red Sox...had best ML start in final outing, allowing just 1 earned run while matching career high with 7.0 innings Oct. 4 vs. Minnesota...finished season 1-6 with 5.82 ERA over 16 games, but fashioned respectable 4.86 mark (29er, 53.2ip) in his 9 starts...logged 3.10 ERA (10er, 29.0ip) in 6 outings at Comerica Park.
2000
Missed 1st 2 months of campaign with left shoulder strain...returned in June and went combined 2-6 with 4.84 ERA (48er, 89.1ip) in 15 starts for double-A Jacksonville and Toledo...was 2-2 with 3.40 ERA (19er, 50.1ip) with Suns, earning late-July promotion to International League...pitched for Scottsdale in Arizona Fall League after season, leading league with 37.1 innings pitched...made 8 starts for Scorpions, going 1-1 with 3.13 ERA.
1999
Set career highs for wins (12), starts (29), complete games (2), innings pitched (186.1) and strikeouts (143) while forging 4.40 ERA between single-A Lakeland and Jacksonville...ranked 2nd among all Tigers farmhands for innings pitched and strikeouts, while tying for 3rd in victories...tabbed as Detroit's 7th-best prospect by
Baseball America
following season.
