In 1998 graduated from Seminole (FL) High School, where he lettered in baseball...pitched one season at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL...plays the guitar.
2005
Combined to go 6-7, 4.21 in 28 starts at Class AA Chattanooga and Class AAA Louisville...began the season with the Lookouts and made 20 starts there before he was promoted to Louisville...beginning 7/29 made his last 8 apps of the season for the Bats...at the time of his promotion led the Lookouts in strikeouts (82) and ranked fifth in the Southern League in innings pitched (111.1)...in his 28 apps made 13 quality starts, including 10qs at Chattanooga and 3qs at Louisville...on 11/18 was designated for assignment...on 11/21 was outrighted to Louisville and was invited to 2006 Major League spring training camp.
2004
Combined to go 7-4, 4.31 with 1 save in 18 apps, including 15 starts, for the Rangers' affiliates at Class A Stockton and Class AA Frisco...missed the first 2 months of the season while recovering from June 2003 "Tommy John" surgery...began the year at Stockton, where from 6/5-7/18 he went 4-2, 3.83 in 10g and 8 starts...for Frisco from 7/27-9/5 went 3-2, 4.89 with 1 save in 8 apps, including 7 starts...earned his only save of the season in his last appearance, on 9/5 vs Arkansas...on 10/4/04 had arthroscopic surgery to clean out his left elbow.

Spent the season at Frisco (AA)...pitched in just 11 games before he injured his left elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery in June...finished 3-2, 5.43 (33 ER/54.2 IP) in 11 appearances (10 starts)...won his last 3 decisions before suffering his injury...in those starts was 3-0, 2.60 (5 ER/17.1 IP)...struck out a season-high 5 in 6.0 innings vs. Arkansas on May 16...defeated the same team again 5 nights later for his second win...made one relief appearance and allowed 9 hits, 5 runs (4 ER) in 4.0 innings vs. Wichita on May 11.

Acquired from Atlanta on April 9, and went 8-6, 1.99 (29 ER/131 IP) in 29 games (20 starts) at Charlotte (A) and Tulsa (AA)...had the lowest ERA of any Texas minor league pitcher (92 or more IP) and tied for the third most strikeouts (117)...recipient of the Nolan Ryan Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award, advancing from Class-A to the majors, making 2 starts for Texas in September...contract purchased by the Rangers on September 16 and had a pair of no decisions in his 2 starts...made major league debut on September 19 at Seattle, leaving with a 7-3 lead in 12-7, 10-inning Texas win (5 IP, 6 H, 3 R-ER, 8 BB, 3 SO)...also started on September 28 vs. Oakland and left with a 7-4 advantage in a 10-8 Rangers loss (5 IP, 5 H, 4 R-ER, 3 BB, 3 SO)...opponents batted .289 (11-38)...lost only start for Braves' Myrtle Beach (A) club before trade to Texas organization...went 4-4, 2.05 in 21 games (12 starts) at Charlotte, tying for second on the staff in strikeouts (76)...Charlotte starting pitchers worked every fourth day, pitching 3 to 5 innings in either start or long relief...posted a 1.91 ERA (10 ER/47 IP) in first 12 games through June 2...the Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May at 1-1, 1.80 (6 ER/30 IP) in 7 games...fanned high of 7 batters, April 24 at Tampa...issued just 2 homers in 79 innings, both on April 24 in Tampa...opponents batted .219, .179 (10-56) by left-handed batters...pitched in the Florida State League All-Star game...promoted to Tulsa on July 12 and went 4-2, 1.90 in 8 starts...0-1, 4.91 (6 ER/11 IP) in his first 2 outings, then 4-1, 1.10 in last 6 games...had a 4-0 record over 5 starts, July 29-August 22...permitted just one hit in 7 shutout innings, August 4 against Wichita...worked at least 6 innings in each of last 7 starts with high of 8 frames, August 9 at Arkansas...struck out 9 on August 15 vs. Round Rock...held opposition to .155 average, .143 (3-21) by left-handed batters...Texas League Pitcher of the Week, July 29-August 4...2-0, 0.86 (2 ER/21 IP) in 3 starts in Texas League playoffs...scheduled to pitch in Arizona Fall League but was held out due to high number of innings (166 inc. playoffs)...went to Arizona Instructional League.
