Cory was added to the Cubs 40-man roster, November 20, 2020, and is in his fifth year in the organization after he was selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2017 draft out of Loyola Marymount University...Is 16-14 with a 2.84 ERA (87 ER/275.2 IP) in 53 career minor league starts, walking 94, striking out 315 batters and logging a 1.14 WHIP...has averaged 10.3 strikeouts per 9.0 innings...Ranked as the 10th-best Cubs prospect by Baseball America heading into the 2020 season...the publication ranked him as the eighth-best prospect in the organization heading into the 2019 campaign...Named the 2019 Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the organization after he led the Southern League in innings (146.2) and strikeouts (166) for Double-A Tennessee...Attended Loyola Marymount University...graduated from Serra High School in San Diego, Calif...As a junior at Loyola in 2017, was named a First Team All-American by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game...named the WCC Pitcher of the Year...Tossed the first perfect game in Loyola history, March 25, 2017, vs. BYU (13 strikeouts, 106 pitches, four three-ball counts).
