Is a native of Northern California and was a two-way talent at Hempstead High School in Cupertino, Calif...Went 6-3 with a 0.54 ERA and batted .358 as a senior...Was selected to the All-Central Coast Section First Team his senior year...Went undrafted out of high school, going on to attend nearby St. Mary's College (Moraga, Calif.)...Grew up golfing and attending camps at Deep Cliff Golf Course in Cupertino, Calif. and now goes back to help work and monitor camps at the course...Played three seasons at St. Mary's College (2015- 17)...Earned All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention honors as a junior, going 6-1-1 with a team-leading 75 strikeouts...Was selected by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2017 Draft...Was signed by Rays scout Allen Hull...At the time of his selection was the highest-selected player out of St. Mary's College since IF Patrick Wisdom was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the supplemental first round of the 2012 Draft...Underwent Tommy John surgery on June 11, 2018, while in the Rays organization and returned to game action roughly a year later on July 11, 2019...Was rated as the No. 19 prospect in the Rays organization by Baseball America prior to the surgery...After being drafted by the Rays, he also appeared at the Minor League level within the Minnesota Twins (2021-22), Texas Rangers (2022) and San Francisco Giants organizations (2023)...Was traded by the Rays to the Twins on July 22, 2022, along with RHP Joe Ryan, in exchange for DH Nelson Cruz and RHP Calvin Faucher...Began participating in yoga classes with teammates while at St. Mary's College...Began to take it more seriously on his own time and now seeks out yoga clinics wherever he's currently based out of...Drew started a TV and movie review blog named "BingeWorthy" amid shutdowns in 2020 caused by the COVID-19 pandemic...He reviewed streamable content available on different platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video...His reviews can still be found at bingeworthy.blog...He says his favorite TV show of all time is "Friends."...Was signed by the Astros as a Minor League free agent on Jan. 29 and is a non-roster invitee for 2024 Major League Spring Training.

Spent the entire 2023 season with Triple-A Sacramento in the San Francisco system, going 5-7 with a 6.47 ERA (70ER/97.1IP)...Led the River Cats in innings pitched and was second on the team with 96 strikeouts...Was signed to a Minor League contract by San Francisco on Nov. 10, 2022 and went on to be signed to a Minor League contract by the club on Nov. 19...Was invited to Major League Spring Training by the Giants as a non-roster invitee, making two appearances.

2022

Began the year with Triple-A St. Paul in the Twins organization working exclusively out of the bullpen for the first time in his professional career... Was claimed off waivers by Texas from Minnesota on Sept. 19.

2021

Appeared in three games (1 start) for Tampa Bay in spring training, going 0-1, 3.86 ERA (2.1 IP, 1 ER) with no walks and one strikeout...tossed 1.0 scoreless inning vs. Minnesota on March 10...Began the year with Triple-A Durham...Went 7-2, 3.39 ERA (58.1 IP, 22 ER) with 33 walks and 62 strikeouts in 13 games (12 starts) for the Bulls...Acquired by Minnesota on July 22, alongside right-handed pitcher Joe Ryan in exchange for designated hitter Nelson Cruz and right-handed pitcher Calvin Faucher...Made his Saints debut on July 31 vs. Indianapolis (ND, 4.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R/ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 1 K)...Overall, went 10-5, 5.29 ERA (112.1 IP, 66 ER) with 63 walks and 104 strikeouts in 25 games (24 starts) combined between Durham and St. Paul...Held left-handed hitters to a .247 (48-for-194) batting average, while righties hit .283 (67-for-237) against him...Ranked as 19th best prospect in Twins system by MLB.com, entering 2022.

In 2019, made his season debut on July 11, returning from Tommy John surgery...Went 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA (24-IP, 12-ER) in 9 starts with the GCL Rays and Class-A Charlotte...Made 6 starts for the Salt River Rafters in the Arizona Fall League...Ranked by Baseball America as the No. 25 prospect in the Rays system following the season.
