A nine-year minor league veteran, Garabito made his major league debut for the Rockies in '05...batted .307 with a home run and 8 RBI in 42 games over 2 stints with Colorado, his first major league action...was initially purchased on May 26 when Aaron Miles went on the disabled list and optioned when infielder Anderson Machado was added to the roster on July 23...was recalled a second time on July 30 when Machado was designated for assignment...was optioned for duration of season on Aug. 8 when pitcher Ryan Speier was added to roster...was outrighted off the 40-man roster on Oct. 5 after the season ended...started 16 games at 2nd base and 2 at shortstop...switch-hitter batted .192 (5-for-26) against lefties and .355 (22-for-62) vs. right-handers...went 7-for-22 (.318) with runners in scoring position, including 4-for-9 with RISP and 2 outs...went 7-for-19 (.368) as a pinch-hitter, the 7th-highest pinch average in the NL among pinch-hitters with 15 or more at-bats...made his major league debut as a pinch-hitter on May 27 at Chicago (NL), grounding out to 2nd base in his only at-bat...recorded first major league hit with a pinch single off Mark Mulder in 7th inning on May 31 at St. Louis...had hits in 3 straight pinch at-bats from May 31-June 5 and made first ML start on June 6 vs. Chicago (AL), going 1-for-4 with a run scored...went 2-for-3 with a walk and first big league stolen base on June 8 vs. Chicago (AL)...posted career-high 6-game hit streak from June 12-19 at .440 (11-for-25)...posted first major league home run during the hit streak, a 2-run job on June 18 at Baltimore off Sidney Ponson...had 4 of his 6 multi-hit games during that span...went 6-for-13 (.462) in a 3-game series at Baltimore from June 17-19, going against organization for which Garabito played 9 minor league seasons...had a .314 average (27-for-86) when optioned to the minors on July 30...played in just 4 games during 2nd stint with Colorado, going 0-for-2 with a sacrifice, walk and 2 runs scored...spent rest of season with Triple-A Colorado Springs, batting .306 with 8 home runs and 39 RBI in 67 games...ranked 3rd on Sky Sox with 56 runs and 4th with 8 steals...hit .288 (21-for-73) against lefties and .314 (58-for-185) vs. right-handers in the PCL...hit .348 (23-for-66) with runners in scoring position and .364 (40-for-110) with runners on base...split time between second base and shortstop...had a .301 average when he got his first call to the big leagues, including a .438 (14-for-32) mark over his final 9 games at Triple-A before having his contract purchased...homered in 3 straight games during that final stretch from May 16-19...posted a 2-homer game on April 18 at Las Vegas...hit .306 (30-for-98) after his final return to Triple-A, batting .365 (23-for-63) over his last 15 contests.
