Was a non-roster invitee with the Yankees during spring training... Began season with Double-A Somerset... Made four starts at second base, four at shortstop and two at third base thru 5/16... Was promoted to Scranton-Wilkes Barre on 5/17... Made his Triple-A debut on 5/18 at Rochester and went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI... Homered in back-to-back games on 6/5-6...Had a season-high four hits on 6/15 vs. Syracuse... Hit .372 (29-for-78) and produced a 1.186 OPS in his first 23 games with Scranton thru 6/17...Had his second four-hit game on 6/27 at Lehigh Valley... Hit .349 (30f-ro-86) with six homers, 19 RBI and a 1.124 OPS in 22 games during the month of June...Was selected by New York on 7/16...Grounded out as a pinch hitter on 7/16 vs. Boston and played the final two innings in right field...Was outrighted back to Scranton on 7/21...Ranked first among all Triple-A East League players in batting (.327), OBP (.475), OPS (1.042) and walks (46) when he was acquired by the Pirates in a three-player trade on 7/26...
