Was limited to just 12 starts in his first season in the A’s organization due to three stints on the injured list…combined for a 1-4 record, a 5.10 ERA and .710 OPS with Double-A Midland and the A’s affiliate in the Arizona Complex League...Struck out 46 batters in 42.1 innings (9.78 per nine innings) and walked just 14 for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.29...Surrendered just three home runs....Had a .250 opponents batting average, which broke down to .216 (19-for-88) against righthanded hitters and .288 (23-for-80) against left-handers...His opponents average dropped to .220 with runners in scoring position....Allowed just one run in the first inning for a 0.75 ERA…yielded 17 of his 30 runs in the second inning (10.03 ERA) ...Started on at least six days rest in 10 of his 12 starts and exactly five days rest in his other two…did not allow an earned run in his two starts on five days rest (8.0ip)....Tossed five innings or fewer in all 12 of his starts, including four innings or fewer 10 times....: Struck out a season-high seven batters in 3.2 innings in his Double-A debut on April 12 against Corpus Christi but was the losing pitcher in an 11-4 loss (2 h, 2 r, 2 er, 1 bb)… issued a season-high three walks in his second start on April 19 at Wichita, his first of three three-walk games…equaled his season high with seven strikeouts in a season-high 5.0 innings April 26 against Frisco…was 0-2 with a 6.14 ERA in four starts when he was placed on the injured list May 4 with a strained right forearm…was reinstated on May 14, had a no decision on May 15 against Corpus Christi (2.0 ip, 2 h, 2 r, 2 er, 3 bb, 3 so), and returned to the IL with the forearm strain on May 16…missed two months before beginning a rehab assignment with the A’s affiliate in the Arizona Complex League on July 22…did not allow an earned run in two starts (7.0 ip, 4 h, 1 r, 5 so) and was reinstated from the IL on Aug. 1…went 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA in five starts with the RockHounds following his return…did not yield a home run in 18.2 innings…allowed three runs on a career-high nine hits in 4.0 innings in a 9-1 loss to Amarillo on Aug. 18…tossed a season-high 76 pitches in a season-high tying 5.0 innings Aug. 25 at San Antonio…yielded a career-high eight runs in 1.2 innings in a 22-5 loss to Arkansas in his final start on Sept. 1…it was the shortest start of his career…was placed on the IL for a third time on Sept. 7 with a right ankle laceration and missed the remainder of the season…pitched for Mesa in the Arizona Fall League and went 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in five starts.

Began the season on the injured list as he continued his recovery from “Tommy John” surgery in college…was reinstated on June 1 and combined for a 5-5 record, a 3.03 ERA and .605 opponents OPS in 18 starts in his professional debut with Single-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn…walked just 22 batters in 92.0 innings, an average of 2.15 per nine innings…struck out 81 for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.68…surrendered just three home runs…tied for seventh in the Mets farm system in games started, ranked eighth in innings pitched (92.0) and tied for ninth in strikeouts…allowed a .223 opponents batting average, which broke down to .196 (40-for-204) with a .519 OPS against right-handed hitters compared to .263 (35-for-133) with a .738 OPS against left-handers…yielded two of his three home runs to lefties…compiled a 3.83 ERA over the first three innings of a game, a 1.89 ERA from the fourth inning on…held the opponents clean-up hitter to a .158 batting average and no home runs…tossed at least four innings in 14 of his 18 starts…walked one batter or fewer 13 times and allowed one run or fewer nine times… started the season at St. Lucie and made his professional debut on June 3 at Fort Myers…tossed 3.0 scoreless innings but had a no decision in a 7-0 loss (2 h, 2 bb, 1 so)…allowed just one run over his first three starts (11.0ip) but logged fewer than five innings in each start and did not have a decision…picked up his first win June 20 at Jupiter in a 6-4 victory (5.0ip, 4h, 3r, 3er, 1 bb, 4so)… allowed his third home run of the season in his sixth start on July 3 at Clearwater…did not allow a home run over his final 12 starts (65.1ip)…struck out a career-high 10 batters in 6.0 scoreless innings for the win on July 10 against Fort Myers…was 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA and .195 opponents batting average in eight starts with St. Lucie when he was promoted to Brooklyn on July 19… went 3-4 with a 3.38 ERA and .240 opponents batting average in 10 starts with the Cyclones… posted a 1.26 ERA over his final five starts beginning Aug. 25…logged a career-high 92 pitches in 5.2 innings of work on Sept. 2 against Wilmington…did not allow a run in back-to-back starts on Sept. 8 at Hudson Valley (5.0ip) and Sept. 14 against Jersey Shore (7.0ip) as part of a 14.0-inning scoreless streak from Sept. 8-19…picked up the win in both outings and his 7.0 innings against Jersey Shore are a career-high…went 2-2 despite a 1.14 ERA and .186 opponents batting average in four starts in September…was rated as the Mets fifth-best prospect by MiLB.com and sixth-best by Baseball America following the season.
