Jared Oliva

Graduated from Valencia (Calif.) High School and played on the baseball team. He walked on at Arizona and redshirted his freshman year...Earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona’s Eller College of Management...His father, David, played professionally in the Red Sox organization from 1982-86. His uncle, Steve, played in the Atlanta Braves organization from 1974-78...His brother, Nicholas, played defensive end at New Mexico State University...His grandfather, Harold Akins, played collegiate basketball at North Carolina State.

2025

Signed a Minor League deal with Milwaukee on Nov. 25, 2024 and received an invite to Major League Spring Training...hit .125 (3-for-24) with three runs, two home runs and four RBI in 16 Cactus League games...Spent the entire season with Triple-A Nashville (Milwaukee), slashing .252/.335/.413 with 63 runs, 15 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 44 RBI and 57 stolen bases over 95 games...His 57 stolen bases ranked second-most in Triple-A behind only the 63 by Esteury Ruiz...Started six games in left field, 39 in center field, 45 in right field and three as the designated hitter for the Sounds.

Entered season ranked by MLB.com as the 12th-best prospect in the Pirates system... Also listed as having the “Best Outfield Arm” in the system for the third straight year by Baseball America... Suffered a strained oblique on 4/16 while participating in drills in Bradenton... Was placed on the 7-day injured list at Indianapolis to start the minor league season on 5/4... Was reinstated on 6/12... Hit .167 (8-for-48) with two RBI in 15 games in June, going hitless in his last 14 at bats... Was recalled by the Pirates on 7/1... Collected his first big league RBI on 7/3 vs. Milwaukee... Went 1-for-16 his first six big league games and 4-for-28 (.143) in his first 13 thru 7/17... Spent entire season with Double-A Altoona, where he was named the team MVP...Entered season rated by Baseball America as the "Best Defensive Outfielder" in Pittsburgh's minor league system...Was also ranked by MLBPipeline as Pittsburgh's 12th-best prospect and 19th by Baseball America...Was selected to the Eastern League's postseason All-Star team...Ranked second in the Eastern League in stolen bases, tied for fourth in triples and runs scored, fifth in hits, sixth in batting, eighth in on-base percentage and OPS and tied for ninth in total bases (178)...Finished tied for the organizational lead in stolen bases along with Randy Romero of the Dominican Summer League Pirates (his 36 stolen bases were also the fourth-most in a single-season in Curve history)... Reached base safely in 20 straight games during the 208 season from 7/5 to 8/1...Ranked third among all Pittsburgh minor leaguers in stolen bases in 2018...Was named an organizational All-Star by MiLB.com following the 2018 campaign...Was signed by Pirates scout Derrick Van Dusen.

2017

Began his professional career with the West Virginia Black Bears in 2017 after being selected by the Pirates in the seventh round of the First-Year Player Draft... Recorded a New York-Penn League-leading 1.000 fielding percentage in 2017...Also ranked first in the New York-Penn League in sacrifice hits in 2017.
