SUMMARY:
Earned his first trip to the major leagues in late-May with the Angels, going 6-for-18 (.333) in 6 games...started the season with Anaheim's Triple-A Edmonton affiliate, where he appeared in 76 games...batted .244 with 17 homers, 2 triples, 8 home runs and 44 RBI for the Trappers...was acquired by the Cubs in a 5-player deal on July 28 and played in 4 games at Triple-A Iowa before a broken right wrist ended his season.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Made his major league debut with Anaheim as a pinch runner May 17 vs. Baltimoreb&singled off Brad Radke May 25 at Minnesota for his first M.L. hit...batted safely in 4 of the 5 games in which he had a plate appearance...posted a career-high 3 hits in his final game with the Angels May 31 at Cleveland...was optioned to Edmonton on June 2 and outrighted from Anaheim's 40-man roster 4 days later.
2000 AT EDMONTON:
Posted 15 multiple-hit games (2 games with 3 hits and 13 games with 2 hits) and 10 multi-RBI contests...opened the season by hitting safely in 9 of his first 10 games (.333) April 7-22...hit only .180 (16-for-89) with one homer and 8 RBI over his next 25 games April 25-June 6...snapped the skid by driving in 10 runs in as many games June 5-15b&drew a game-winning bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th to down Iowa on June 18...clinched a 5-4 win on June 29 vs. Sacramento with an RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning...hit .385 (10-for-26) during a season-high 8-game hitting streak June 26-July 3b&had 12 RBI in 16 games June 24-July 13, and hit safely in 10 of 12 games (14-for-42, .333) July 14-26...after hitting a solo homer in an 8-2 win at Oklahoma on July 21, homered twice and drove in 5 runs the next night in New Orleans...smacked a 3-run shot in the 4th inning and a 2-run blast in the 6th to lead the Trappers to a 7-0 victory...the home run barrage capped a 9-game streak in which saw Luuloa hit .400 (12-for-30) with 7 RBI July 14-23.
2000 AT IOWA:
Went 6-for-16 (.375) with one homer and 4 RBI for Iowa after his trade to the Cubs...suffered a broken right wrist sliding into second base attempting to break up a double play in only his 4th game with Iowa August 2 at Fresno.
