Took home just about every major award in college baseball in 2021, including the Golden Spikes Award, Dick Howser Trophy, SEC Pitcher of the Year as well as National Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball and D1Baseball...Struck out 131 batters, the 3rd-most in a single season in Arkansas program history, while walking just 18 and allowing only nine earned runs all season...Punched out at least one batter in all of his team-leading 33 appearances, including 29 multi-strikeout efforts...His lone start of his award-winning season came against NC State in a must-win Game 3 of the NCAA Tournament Super Regional (June 13), striking out a season-high nine in 8.0 innings...Member of an Arkansas pitching staff that set a school record with 657 strikeouts in 2021...Named one of five finalists, along with US Olympic gold medalists Simone Biles (gymnastics), Caeleb Dressel (swimming), Athing Mu (track and field) and Maddie Musselman (water polo), for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) James E. Sullivan Award, presented to the most outstanding athlete in the United States...Son of Rick and Michelle…has one sister, Ashley, who played softball at Sam Houston State.

Spent the majority of the season with Double-A San Antonio (33 app., 2.63 ERA) before receiving his first-career Triple-A action (13 app., 6.89 ERA)... Struck out at least one while allowing at least one ER in eight of his first 21 outings from April 7-June 28 (3.93 ERA), including multiple ER in 5 of those 8... Did not allow an ER in 14 consecutive outings from July 1-Aug. 20 between his final 12 appearances for the Missions and his first two for Triple-A El Paso…over the stretch, he limited hitters to a .198 AVG (16-for-81), posted a 25-to-6 SO/ BB ratio and converted four of his five SVO over the stretch... Converted six of his eight total SVO for the Missions, posting a 1.46 ERA (2 ER, 12.1 IP) with a 13.1 SO/9 IP ratio and a .213 opponents’ AVG in save situations... At the time of his promotion to ELP on Aug. 15, his 2.63 ERA ranked 7th among all Double-A hurlers who made at least 30 appearances from April 7 to Aug. 14... Posted a 6.89 ERA (12 ER, 15.2 IP) for the Chihuahuas, allowing 1+ ER in five of his 13 Triple-A outings…nine of his 12 ER came in back-to-back outings on Sept. 7 and Sept. 10 vs. Round Rock…remove those two outings, he had a 2.05 ERA (3 ER, 13.2 IP) across his other 11 Triple-A appearances...On the season, he tossed 1.1+ IP in 27 of his 46 appearances, including 2.0+ IP in 18 outings…when he tossed 2.0+ IP, he was 4-1 with a 1.86 ERA (8 ER, 38.2 IP).
2021
Made his professional debut in '21, allowing just 1 ER (0.61 ERA) in 14 relief outings between the Arizona Complex League Padres (R), Fort Wayne (A) and San Antonio (AA)... Struck out the side in his first professional outing on Aug. 2 at the ACL Angels... Allowed his lone run in his 2nd pro outing vs. the ACL White Sox, which was also his only outing lasting longer than 1.0 IP...proceeded to allow zero runs and just three hits (.079 AVG) across his next 12 outings of the campaign from Aug. 9-Sept. 18... Promoted to FW on Aug. 20 and finished off the game in five of his eight appearances with the TinCaps, going 1-0 and converting all 3 of his save opportunities...allowed just two hits overall while with FW... Promoted to SA on Sept. 14 and posted two scoreless outings... Recorded at least 1 SO in 12 of his 14 outings...on the season, struck out 22 and walked just five in his 14.2 IP (13.50 SO/9 IP ratio).
