In August 2019, the Amarillo Sod Poodles hosted "Bachar Strong Night" as a show of encouragement for Lake's father, David, who was diagnosed with cancer in January 2018. The Sod Poodles took the field in a Padres throwback-themed jersey with #BacharStrong on the sleeve and the phrase "No One Fights Alone" on the back, a phrase that became a Bachar family rallying cry in David's fight against cancer. The Bachar Strong jerseys were auctioned off following the game, with the proceeds going toward the Bachar family's medical expenses. The Padres also donated various items, including signed bats from Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers as well as a signed game-worn Padres jersey. Bachar Strong T-Shirts were also available in the Sod Poodles team store...Prior to his 2016 campaign with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, was ranked No. 100 on Baseball America's Top 100 Draft Prospects. Also tabbed as the No. 1 prospect in the Northwoods League on Baseball America's 2015 Summer College League Top Prospects Index...His 103 strikeouts led the UW-Whitewater pitching staff and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference while finishing 5th in the nation. His strikeout-total tied for the 3rd-most in a single season in school program history. • Was a member of the UW-Whitewater football team, and played football and baseball at Wheaton North High School where he was all-conference for baseball and football and all-area in baseball.
