Was born in Blue Bell, Pa. but moved to Southlake, Texas when he was about one year old. Grew up there and considers Texas home...With Stripling beginning his professional career in the Dodgers organization, he’s quite familiar with a few of his new Giants teammates from their times in Los Angeles. Farhan Zaidi was the GM of the Dodgers for most of Stripling’s career there while Gabe Kapler was the organization’s Director of Player Development from 2014-17 when he was coming through the minor leagues...Teams up again with lefty Alex Wood, who Stripling calls one of his best friends in baseball. Wood was in Stripling’s wedding...Also teams up with OF Joc Pederson. The two were roommates in 2013 when both were playing for the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts...Stripling and his dad attended Rangers Opening Day in 2004, which was Gabe Kapler’s first career game with Texas after an offseason trade (Kapler homered twice). Stripling’s dad told Ross it was Kapler’s MLB debut and later in life when Ross was a prospect in the Dodgers system his dad told him he should tell Gabe when he meets him he was at his MLB debut. Stripling did but Kapler didn’t correct him. It wasn’t until this offseason when he was researching Kap he realized he’d made the mistake...Stripling and his wife, Shelby, have one son, Jaxon. They are expecting their second son during Spring Training 2023...Co-hosted a weekly podcast called Big Swing Podcast from 2019 though mid-2021. He and his co-host, Cooper Surles, logged 130 episodes with 70+ guests during the run...Played college baseball at Texas A&M, where he starred for four seasons, going a combined 32-11 with a 3.10 ERA in 71 games (50 starts) before being taken by the Dodgers in the fifth round in 2012. His father, uncle, brother and grandfather all went to A&M as well...As a junior in 2011, went 14-2 record with a 2. 29 ERA. The 14 wins led the country and were third most for single season in Texas A&M history. Selected as an All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings (First Team), Collegiate Baseball (Third Team) and College Baseball Insider (Honorable Mention)…Attended Southlake Carroll HS where he only played one year of varsity baseball and didn’t pitch until his senior year after a broken leg rendered him unable to play the infield. He went 14-0 with a 1.60 ERA...Also lettered in basketball, where he was a forward, and football, where he was a wide receiver...Stripling was a success in the classroom as well at Southlake Carroll, graduating 11th in his class of over 600 with summa cum laude distinction. He earned a prestigious President’s Endowed Scholarship to A&M.

Set career bests in wins (10), starts (24), innings pitched (134.1), WHIP (1.02) and ERA (3.01) in his second full season with the Blue Jays...In his 24 starts, Stripling went 9-4 with a 2.92 ERA, allowing 11 homers with 14 walks and 100 strikeouts...
