Has more than 30 tattoos...did not make any major additions this offseason, though he did get some fill-in and re-coloring work done...his wife, Kim, bought him a tattoo machine for his birthday, although most of his body ink has been done by professionals...he drew tattoos on his thumb and foot but doesn't plan to do anymore himself...His nickname "Tatman" began in 2011 when a D-backs fan held up a sign with the name, which Kim saw on TV and thought was perfect...Instead of simply writing a check, Ryan wanted to be more creative in helping a charity...in 2012, he started selling T-shirts with a "Tatman" logo to benefit Ryan's House in Arizona, which gives terminally ill children a fun, casual place to hang out while their parents get a rare chance to spend time together alone...Ryan decided to give the "Tatman" proceeds to Ryan's House after soliciting suggestions for charities on Twitter...During a stint with the Reno Aces (Arizona's Triple-A affiliate) in 2010, he lived in the home clubhouse for several weeks to save money... this offseason, Ryan and Kim purchased their first home.
