High School, where he was originally selected by Cleveland in the 40th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft...Played first and third base primarily at the University of North Carolina after spending time on the mound in high school...Was ranked as the No. 1 third baseman and the No. 3 overall player in North Carolina by Perfect Game...Tossed a combined five scoreless innings in four appearances for the United States at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo to help the team win a Silver Medal...His brother, River, is a pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.; he went 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA in four starts for the World Champs in 2024.

Made the Opening Day roster after being a non-roster invitee during Spring Training...Made his debut with the Pirates on 3/29 at Miami and picked up the win with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief - the first Pittsburgh pitcher to win his debut with the team since Thomas Hatch on Aug. 10, 2023...Was scored upon in each of his next three outings (3.2ip/4er) and was optioned to Indianapolis on 4/9...Was recalled on 4/14 when Marco Gonzales went on the I.L...Was not charged with an earned run in five straight outings from 4/14-25 (6.2ip)…Was optioned to Indianapolis on 4/26... Spent a majority of the year with Tacoma (Mariners’ Triple-A)…Finished tied with the eighth-most appearances in the Pacific Coast League…Made 47 of his 48 appearances with Tacoma out of the bullpen (his only start came on 5/30 when he allowed one run on three hits in 1.0 inning)…Did not allow a hit in six of his first seven outings with Tacoma…Recorded a 3.00 ERA (30.0ip/10er), 0.97 WHIP and .170 batting average against in 24 appearances with Tacoma from 6/1 to 8/31…Was recalled by Seattle on 8/8…Struck out two batters in 1.0 scoreless inning of relief in his big league debut on 8/11 vs. Baltimore…Was optioned back to Tacoma for the remainder of the season on 8/17.

2022

Appeared in 47 combined games going 5-4 with a 3.64 ERA (24 ER, 59.1) with 29 walks and 67 strikeouts...went 16 games without giving up a home run, within that time he had a 2.25 ERA (5 ER, 20.0 IP) with eight walks and 20 strikeouts.

2021

Went 2-7, 5.60 ERA (28 ER, 45.0 IP) in 38 relief app. for Triple-A Round Rock... struck out 55 batters against 19 walks, as his 11.00 strikeouts per 9.0 innings figure was his highest since 2016 (career-high 11.57)...on temporarily inactive list from July 19 - Aug.1...was scoreless in 4 relief app. (5.0 IP) for the United States at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, helping Team USA to a silver-medal finish.

2020

Did not play due to cancellation of Minor League Season... acquired by Texas from New York-NL on Dec. 18 to complete trade that sent INF Todd Frazier to the Mets on August 31.

2019

Returned to Double-A Binghamton and allowed just 2 home runs in 44.1 IP (0.4 HR/9)...made 1st 2 starts of pro career, both in 2nd games of doubleheaders.

2018

Split the season between St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League and Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League...Was a mid-season Florida State League All-Star... Posted a 1.77 ERA (four earned runs/20.1 innings) in 16 games with St. Lucie before his promotion.

2017

Split season between Single-A Lake County in the CLE organization and Single-A Columbia in New York-NL system, going 3-4 with a 4.14 ERA (25 ER, 54.1 IP) and 6 saves in 41 games...named a mid-season Midwest League All-Star with Lake County...traded from Cleveland to New York-NL in exchange for OF Jay Bruce on 8/9.

2016

Made 15 relief appearances for the AZL Indians in his professional debut.
