Tyler resides in McCook Lake, S.D...Transferred to the University of Iowa in 2017, where he threw out a Big 10-most 19 would-be baserunners as a junior...Attended Iowa Western Community College from 2015-16, where he led the team to a 106-22 record over two seasons, winning back-to-back conference titles and finished 4th at the NJCAA World Series in 2016...Was named a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award as a senior and was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection after leading the Iowa Hawkeyes in batting average (.342) with 29 extra-base hits and 50 RBI in 53 games and tied for the conference lead with 20 doubles...His father, Dean, played baseball at Wayne State University, and his mother, Lesa, played softball at South Dakota...Was a three-time high school all-state selection at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City, Iowa...He was all-state and all-division in football and he placed third in Class 3A in long jump as a senior.

Earned his first invitation to Major League Spring Training in 2022 with Kansas City...Appeared in just 36 games across three levels of Kansas City’s minor league system due to injury, with stops in Arizona (two games), Low-A Columbia (three) and Northwest Arkansas (31).

Appeared in 26 games for Double-A Northwest Arkansas, posting a .325 on-base percentage...Hit his first Double-A home run May 23 at Springfield.
