Started three years at Georgia Tech (2017-19), making 10 starts in 2019, going 4-2 with a 4.08 ERA (26ER/57.1 IP/66 strikeouts), his lowest collegiate ERA. Went 8-4 in 2018, tied for the ACC lead in wins. Entered GT as a two-way player (SS)...2016 Mays High School grad. Was tabbed a 2016 Perfect Game/ Rawlings Third Team All-American...Is the oldest of four siblings. His father, Reginald, played football at Clemson and South Carolina State...Favorite team growing up was the Atlanta Falcons, enjoyed watching Michael Vick...Played on youth travel team out of Atlanta with Will Benson and Justin Fields...Made multiple appearances at the Guardians Youth Summer Camps when he attended the Solon and Avon Lake camps in July 2023. During both visits he spent time answering questions, taking photos, and signing autographs for the campers...While with the Guardians organization, became a member of the True2U program where he served as a mentor to a class of eighth grade boys at Valley View Boys Leadership Academy in Cleveland. His mentorship consisted of monthly visits both virtually and in-person. The program is designed for mentors to guide Cleveland Metropolitan School District eighth grade classrooms as they make their decision on where they will attend high school.

2024

Posted a 2-2 record, 4.64 ERA (22 ER/42.2 IP) in a combined 16 appearances (five starts) between the Marlins and Guardians. Walked seven batters against 28 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .232 AVG (38-for-164)…Started the season on Cleveland's 15-day IL with viral illness. Was activated and made his season debut on April 15...Made seven appearances (four starts) with the Guardians over four stints: April 15-17, May 21-28, June 24-27, July 12-Aug. 4 before being designated for assignment on Aug. 6. Owned an 0-2 record, 5.84 ERA (16 ER/24.2 IP), five walks and 15 strikeouts...In 12 games (11 starts) with Triple-A Columbus, went 2-6 with a 6.58 ERA (39 ER/53.1 IP), 21 walks and 47 strikeouts...Was claimed off waivers by Miami from Cleveland on Aug. 9 and sent to Triple-A Jacksonville where he went 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA (8 ER/7.1 IP) in two starts, with five walks and three strikeouts...Recalled by Miami on Aug. 28 and spent the rest of the season on the active roster, going 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA (6 ER/18 IP), two walks and 13 strikeouts in nine outings (one start)…In his Marlins debut on Aug. 31 at SF, retired the only two batters he faced (0.2 IP) on six pitches...Tossed multiple innings in three of his eight relief appearances.; owned a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/9.0 IP) in these outings, allowing only two hits...Entered in long relief on Sept. 11 at PIT and allowed just two hits over 4.2 innings. Struck out three batters...Made his first start as a Marlin in his final appearance of the season, on Sept. 28 at TOR. Allowed one run on two hits (one home run) with one walk and one strikeout in a season-high-tying five innings pitched (also, in season debut with CLE on April 15 at BOS). 

2023

Spent entire season at the Major League level, splitting time between the bullpen and rotation and was an invaluable member of the pitching staff, filling a variety of roles throughout the campaign (finished fifth on the team in innings)...Recorded a season/career-high 5.0 IP in his first career relief outing on Apr. 3 at Oakland... Was the first CLE reliever since Bryan Bullington on Sept. 9, 2008 to work 5.0+ IP, allow three-or-fewer hits and zero walks in an outing...Recorded his first ML win on May 28 vs. St. Louis...His first 23 outings came in relief thru July 15, posting a 3.04 ERA (16ER/47.1IP) before making three spot starts in July, the first of which coming on July 17 at Pittsburgh (3.0IP, 1H, 0R)...On the year as a starter he was 0-3 with a 5.24 ERA in 9GS (20ER/34.1IP)... In relief he posted a 3-1 mark with a 3.41 ERA in 32 games (23ER/60.2IP)...Was a member of the rotation, Aug. 6-Sept. 3, while Bieber and McKenzie worked their way back from injuries and Aaron Civale was traded...Posted a 6.39 ERA over the span(18ER/25.1IP), tossing a career-high 6.0IP on Aug. 18 vs. Detroit (G2)...Finished the season in the bullpen (seven games) after making 6 straight starts in the rotation...Worked 1.1-or-more innings in 28 of 41 games pitched...Was optioned to AAA Columbus on March 23 before coming back March 28 at AZ following Triston McKenzie’s injury…held opponents to a .230 avg. with RISP (20-for-87) and a .191 clip with RISP w/ 2 outs (9-for-47)…Had a 2.98 ERA at home compared to a 5.53 mark on the road...LHH posted just a .645 OPS/.240 avg. compared to .854/.290 vs. RH...Walk % of 7.4% of batters faced was in the 65th-percentile in MLB.

2022

Reached Major Leagues in just his second professional season, splitting the majority of the campaign between AA Akron and AAA Columbus, going 9-4 with 4.06 ERA in 25 G/21 GS (122.0IP, 106H, 55ER, 42BB, 134SO, .229 avg)…Began year at Akron, promoted to Columbus on Aug. 16...his 4.21 strikeout-to-walk ratio (80SO, 19BB) ranked seventh in the AA Eastern League (min. 60.0IP) at the time of his call-up...For the year he was T-fifth in the system in innings…Enjoyed a pair of double-digit SO games, including 12 on June 10 at Somerset...Made his ML debut as the 27th player on Aug. 15 vs. Detroit (Game 2), earning a ND in his first start (5.0IP, 8H, 3R/ER, 1BB, 3SO)…Also made a spot start on Sept. 3 vs. Seattle (L, 4.1IP, 5H, 4R/3ER, 5BB, 0SO) after injuries to Zach Plesac and Aaron Civale.

2021

Spent first pro season for Low-A Lynchburg, High-A Lake County and AA Akron...Went 8-1 with a 2.30 ERA (25ER/97.2IP) across all levels...Finished the season leading the CLE Development System in WHIP (0.89), while ranking 2nd in opp. avg. (.196) and ERA.
