Attended his first career Major League Spring Training with San Diego...Spent the entire season with Double-A San Antonio.

2023

Began the season on the 60-Day Injured list and split the campaign between the Cubs' Rookie-Level Arizona Complex League Cubs and Single-A South Bend, posting a career-best 1.71 ERA (4 ER, 21.0 IP) between the clubs in 16 appearances (all in relief)... Also set a career-best in a season in opponent batting average, holding them to a .195 (15-for-77) clip with a 24 strikeouts against 11 walks...his 24 punchouts were his most since 28 in 2019... Placed on the 60-day IL on March 31 and began his rehab assignment on July 14...made 2 scoreless appearances (2.0 IP) before being reinstated from the 60-day IL on July 20 and assigned to High-A South Bend... For SB, made 14 relief appearances for a 1.89 ERA (4 ER, 19.0 IP) and a .203 opponent clip... His 21.0 innings were his most since his 23.2 IP in 2019 (career high is his 56.1 IP in his 1st pro season in 2017)... In 93 total batters faced, didn't allow a single home run...was the first season in which he hadn't allowed a single homer... Made nine appearances in the month of August, besting his previous high of three in July in a single month in 2023... With South Bend, held right-handed hitters to a .200 clip (6- for-30) and to a .205 average against lefty batters (8-for-39)... On Oct. 21, signed with the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League...appeared in six games, but he allowed seven ER in 3.2 IP for a 17.18 ERA... Elected free agency on Nov. 6, and he signed with San Diego as a Minor League free agent on Nov. 13 with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.
