Alcantara got the Marlins' Wild Card Series sweep of the Cubs started with 6 2/3 innings of one-run baseball in Game 1. He hasn't faced the Braves yet this season, but had a 2.41 ERA against them in three starts in 2019.

Fried, who was in line to draw strong NL Cy Young Award consideration before being limited by injuries, worked seven scoreless innings in Atlanta's NL Wild Card Series-opening win over the Reds. Without off-days, Fried would be on short rest if needed later in the series.

Valdez made his postseason debut in the AL Wild Card Series against the Twins, tossing five scoreless innings of relief and earning the win in the Astros' Game 1 victory. The left-hander pitched seven strong innings against the A's on Aug. 8, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out nine.

Manaea gets his shot at redemption after a rough postseason debut in last year’s AL Wild Card Game, a loss to the Rays. The left-hander was dominant in his lone start against Houston in the regular season, tossing seven innings of one-run ball on Sept. 10. He’ll enter the postseason with some confidence, carrying a 2.65 ERA over his past six starts.

García (21 years, 140 days) will be the youngest starter in Yankees postseason history, surpassing Whitey Ford (1950 World Series). The rookie did not face the Rays during the regular season, which he finished with a 4.98 ERA across six starts.

Glasnow made three starts against New York this season, going 1-1 with a 3.77 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings. Including the postseason, the right-hander has recorded eight or more strikeouts in nine of his 12 starts.

Clevinger has never faced the Dodgers in his career. The righty notched a 2.84 ERA in four starts for the Padres after arriving from Cleveland at the Trade Deadline.

Buehler’s blister on his index finger doesn’t take away from his nastiness, as he showed for all but one bad pitch against Milwaukee. But the Dodgers are rationing his usage to preserve him for future games, so he might only be a four-inning pitcher again in Game 1.
