MINNEAPOLIS -- Wilson Ramos will not be able to play in Tuesday's All-Star Game, he said following Saturday's game vs. the Twins.
The Tampa Bay catcher was removed from the Rays' 19-6 win with tightness in his left hamstring. He said the injury occurred when he was running out a ground ball to third in the sixth inning.
The 30-year-old Ramos is hitting .297 with 14 home runs and 51 RBIs and was set to be the starting catcher for the American League at Nationals Park.

"I was very excited to participate in that game," Ramos said. "Now, I'm very sad. I worked really hard to make that team. But I will be there with my family and get some time there."
While he won't be able to play in the game, he said he would still travel to Washington for the All-Star Game festivities.
Ramos said he isn't sure if he will have to go on the disabled list.
"Hopefully it gets better soon," Ramos said. "I still have half a season left … It's better to miss one game than two months. Just have to be smart, do my rehab well and come back strong."
Rays trade for lefty
The Rays acquired left-hander Hoby Milner from the Phillies on Saturday for cash considerations. Philadelphia had designated Milner for assignment earlier this week.

When a player's contract is designated for assignment -- often abbreviated "DFA" -- that player is immediately removed from his club's 40-man roster, and 25-man roster if he was on that as well. Within seven days of the transaction (it was previously 10 days), the player must either be traded, released or placed on irrevocable outright waivers.
Milner, 27, made the Phillies' Opening Day roster, but posted a 7.71 ERA in 10 appearances before being optioned to Triple-A. He had a 2.01 ERA in 37 appearances last season.
