Key contributors to the Rays Baseball Foundation include Rays owners, players, sponsors, fans and employees. Funds are raised through a variety of events and programs throughout the baseball season.
Rays Fan Fest and Charity Yard Sale
Every off season the Rays front office staff clean out their closets for the Rays Charity Yard Sale. The popular event gives fans a chance to pick up giveaway items, memorabilia from former players and unique finds at drastic discounts, with all proceeds benefiting the Rays Baseball Foundation. Fan Fest also offers fans the chance to receive an autograph from current and former Rays players. The Rays Charity Yard Sale and autograph sales, combined raise $100,000 annually for the team and it's charities.
Turn Back the Clock Jersey Auction
Since 2002, the Rays have hosted a Turn Back the Clock Game with a special jersey auction. Each season the Rays don their "faux-back" retro 1970's jerseys while the visiting team selects a road jersey style from their past. The Rays and visitor's retro jerseys are auctioned off during a special Rays Charity Auction on raysbaseball.com/auctions following the game.
Shirts Off Our Backs
Each year the Rays Baseball Foundation hosts the annual Shirts Off Our Backs fundraiser during the final Rays home games of the regular season. An estimated 300 volunteers roam the ballpark wearing bright Shirts Off Our Backs t-shirts during this fundraiser offering fans scratch off cards to win great prizes. Included in the prizes are Rays game tickets, Rays game-worn jerseys and more. As an added bonus, winners of game worn jerseys are invited onto the field after the final game of the season to receive the jersey off of a players' back. More than $50,000 is raised annually during the fundraiser to support the Rays Baseball Foundation. Learn More
Split the Pot Raffle
The Rays Baseball Foundation has teamed up with the Ted Williams Museum Foundation for the Split the Pot Raffle. The popular fundraiser provides the chance for one lucky fan at each Rays home game to walk away the winner of a cash prize. Uniformed raffle ticket vendors roam the ballpark offering tickets to fans in exchange for a donation to the Rays Baseball Foundation. The winning ticket is announced during the 8th inning of each game on the RaysVision scoreboard. The fan favorite program raises $500,000 annually for the Rays Baseball Foundation. See Split the Pot Raffle. Also see official rules.
Select fan experiences at the ballpark such as Rays alcove activities, purchasing food to feed the rays at the Ray Tank and posting a Scoreboard Message all support the Rays Baseball Foundation. Proceeds from these experiences raise $50,000 annually for the Rays Baseball Foundation. Wish someone happy birthday by purchasing a scoreboard message.
