Home run in a blizzard? How about two

May 9th, 2019

Nolan Arenado and Mark Reynolds showed on Thursday afternoon that a little snow -- OK, a veritable blizzard -- was not enough to cool them off. The two Rockies sluggers connected on back-to-back home runs off Giants left-hander Derek Holland in the first inning of Colorado's 12-11 win at Coors Field.

Arenado's two-run shot, his 10th of the season, went an estimated 402 feet; he was subsequently spotted blowing on his hands to try to warm them up in the dugout. Reynolds did him one better distance-wise, hitting his fourth homer of the year an estimated 425 feet.

For what it's worth, the forecast called for the wintry weather to slow down and then stop over the course of the afternoon. But even when the snow did stop, the Rockies didn't. Ian Desmond went deep in the second inning for his fourth homer of the season, extending Colorado's lead.
