After four years of waiting, it’s back. Following an extensive refurbishment of one of America’s most famous ball fields, the MLB at Field of Dreams Game, presented by John Deere, returns for its third edition.

Better yet, it features two teams that are very much in the hunt for postseason berths. The perennially contending Phillies and the surprising Twins both find themselves battling for Wild Card spots in their respective leagues, and Thursday’s game is actually the beginning of a three-game series that will continue a few hours up the road in Minneapolis over the weekend.

But for now, it’s all about one of the sport’s truly special events. And it could be an entertaining one, as the Phillies bring their star-laden lineup against a Minnesota team that quietly ranks eighth in the Majors in runs scored.

It’s also a contrast in starting pitchers. The Phillies will send crafty, offspeed-heavy veteran Aaron Nola to the mound, while the Twins will counter with one of the league’s hardest throwing starters in Taj Bradley.

Here is what you need to know about this special matchup set near the iconic location of the classic 1989 film "Field of Dreams."

When is the 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams Game, and how can I watch it?

This year's MLB at Field of Dreams Game between the Phillies and Twins will stream exclusively on Netflix, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET today. Special pregame coverage is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Netflix obtained exclusive rights to the Field of Dreams Game as a part of a new partnership with MLB in the offseason. This will be the third MLB event carried by Netflix this season. It also streamed the Opening Night game between the Yankees and Giants on March 25 as well as the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on July 13.

Who is the home team?

The Twins are the home side for this regular-season game. It will be the first game in a three-game set between the two clubs. After an off-day on Friday, the Phillies and Twins will play on Saturday and Sunday at Minnesota's Target Field.

Who are the starting pitchers?

Phillies: , RHP

The past two seasons certainly haven't gone the way Nola would have liked, but he has seemingly turned a corner in recent weeks. The 12-year veteran has a 4.28 ERA over his past seven starts, which -- while still not up to his standards -- is far better than the 6.04 ERA he had in 17 starts through June. Nola departed his last start with a right knee contusion after being struck by a 104.8 mph comebacker, but he’s gone through his usual routine between starts and says he’s good to go.

Twins: , RHP

A year after the Twins acquired Bradley from the Rays at the Trade Deadline, he’s settled in nicely as a key piece of Minnesota's starting rotation. He routinely hits the high 90s with his fastball, also mixing in a cutter and a splitter that, when they’re all working, make him an absolute handful. Bradley’s walks have been up a bit lately, but he’s been keeping the ball in the park (no homers in his past three starts).

What might the starting lineups look like?

Phillies: The Phillies will likely go with their typical lineup against right-handed pitching, one in which Alec Bohm was dropped to the No. 8 spot earlier this week. It’s possible interim manager Don Mattingly will try to get Bryce Harper a DH day as he continues to adjust to right field and deal with a sore left knee, but the Phillies’ preference is to keep Kyle Schwarber at DH.

Twins: The order remains to be seen, to some degree, because the Twins seem likely to activate Byron Buxton, but they haven’t done so yet. If he starts, Buxton will likely slot in the two-hole behind Trevor Larnach, who has found a home leading off against right-handers. Manager Derek Shelton can deploy his middle-of-the-order hitters -- usually Josh Bell, Ryan Jeffers, Kody Clemens and Royce Lewis -- in a variety of combinations. And keep an eye out for rookie Kaelen Culpepper, a Top 100 prospect who was recently promoted.

How will the bullpens line up after the starter?

Phillies: It’s been a struggle of late for the Phillies’ taxed bullpen to get the ball to shutdown closer . Some of their high-leverage guys have finally gotten a breather this week, though, so expect to see some combination of , and taking down any high-leverage spots before turning it over to setup man for the eighth and Duran for the ninth.

Twins: With two big additions at the Trade Deadline in and , the Twins’ bullpen is better than it’s been all year. Those two combine with and to form the back end of a group that should be effective down the stretch. All four pitched in Wednesday’s win against the Orioles, but all four had at least two days off before that, so they should be available again on Thursday. has also been pitching very well lately and definitely could be called on to get big outs against left-handers.

Any injuries of note?

Phillies: Reliever , who was just acquired at the Aug. 3 Trade Deadline, was placed on the IL on Monday with a strained right oblique. The Phillies previously lost reliever (UCL tear in right elbow) and starting right fielder (right lat surgery) for the season.

Twins: The big one is Buxton, who seems to have a pretty good shot of being activated for the game after missing a bit more than two weeks with a lingering hip injury. If he returns, then the Twins are at full strength on the offensive side of the ball. They’re down several starters, most recently Joe Ryan, and relievers and are out for the rest of the year.

Who is hot and who is not?

Phillies: Stott has been on a roll since the start of June, raising his average by 54 points and his OPS by 125 points during that span. Crawford has also seemingly turned a corner, hitting .296 since the start of June after hitting just .234 through May. Schwarber, meanwhile, has just two homers in his past 20 games, both of which came this past Sunday.

Twins: Bell is in the middle of an absolutely torrid stretch at the plate, as is Lewis. Bell had three hits Wednesday and is hitting .375 in August, while Lewis is hitting .314 with a .562 slugging percentage since July 9. Clemens and Lee had both been in a bit of a funk but showed good signs against Baltimore. , who had been starting at short before Culpepper was called up, is slumping at the plate.

Will the Phillies and Twins wear special uniforms?

Yes. The Phillies' gray road uniforms are inspired by the same unis the team wore from 1939-41 while the Twins’ home uniforms are inspired by their original jerseys from the 1960s.

Will any Hall of Famers be at the game?

Yes! More than 25 Hall of Famers are scheduled to walk through the cornfields and onto the diamond during a pregame ceremony. Among that group are luminaries who played for the Phillies and/or Twins. Former Phillies who are scheduled to appear include Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton and Scott Rolen. The Twins will be represented by Joe Mauer, Rod Carew, Bert Blyleven and Paul Molitor. Jim Thome and Jim Kaat, who played for both clubs, are also expected to take part in the pregame festivities.

It's believed that this will be the largest gathering of living Hall of Famers at one game since the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, where 49 Hall of Famers convened during the legendary ballpark’s final season.

Will the teams be playing on the same field from the movie?

No. An 8,000-seat ballpark with typical Major League dimensions (335 feet down the lines; 380 feet to the alleys; and 400 feet to dead center) was constructed a quarter-mile west of the diamond from the movie. There is a pathway through the cornfield that leads to the ballpark, and a right-field wall with windows that show the surrounding 159 acres of corn.

What happened in previous MLB at Field of Dreams games?

This year's MLB game will be the first in Dyersville since 2022, when the Cubs defeated the Reds, 4-2.

The first MLB at Field of Dreams Game was one of the very best games of the 2021 season. The Yankees, trailing 7-4 in the top of the ninth, scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning, highlighted by home runs from Aaron Judge (his second of the day) and a go-ahead tater from Giancarlo Stanton.

But the White Sox got the last laugh when shortstop Tim Anderson smashed a walk-off, two-run shot into the cornstalks in right field to give Chicago a dramatic 9-8 victory.

Are there other games scheduled to take place at the Field of Dreams site?

Yes. The Phillies-Twins game was preceded by an MiLB at Field of Dreams Game between the St. Paul Saints (Minnesota's Triple-A affiliate) and the Iowa Cubs (Chicago's Triple-A affiliate) on Tuesday. The Cubs won, 6-3.

In addition, the 2026 High School All-American Game was held in Dyersville on Wednesday. With Jim Thome and Torii Hunter serving as the managers, the National League defeated the American League, 3-1.

What else should I know about this year's MLB at Field of Dreams Game?

  • The Phillies have played their share of special events, including participating in the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pa., in both 2018 and '23, as well as playing a pair of games in London against the Mets in '24.
