Twins place Willingham on disabled list
Recall Tonkin From Triple-A Rochester
The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Josh Willingham on the disabled list with a left wrist contusion (retroactive April 7). He suffered the injury April 6 in Cleveland after being hit by a pitch thrown by Justin Masterson in the first inning.
To replace Willingham on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin from Triple-A Rochester. Tonkin went 1-0, 0.00 ERA (4.2 IP) with five strikeouts and one save in three appearances with the Red Wings.
Tonkin will be in uniform today and wear number 59.
