Minnesota Twins Homestead Highlights: April 19-25

Twins host pair of American League Central Division foes for second homestand; Tickets remain for all seven games against Tigers and White Sox

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The reigning American League Central Division champion Minnesota Twins return to downtown Minneapolis for their second homestand of the season, a seven-game stay against a pair of AL Central foes. First, the Twins welcome the Detroit Tigers for three games from tomorrow, April 19 through Sunday, April 21. After the Tigers depart, Minnesota will host the Chicago White Sox for four games from Monday, April 22 through Thursday, April 25.

FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO THE BIG LEAGUES

On Saturday, April 20 and Thursday, April 25, Target Field will host the first three of six regular season high school games, following the conclusion of each respective day’s Twins game. Saturday’s contest will feature Owatonna vs. Red Wing and Thursday’s will be a doubleheader of Prior Lake vs. Shakopee and Edison vs. Johnson. The six regular season prep games are the most at Target Field in a single season in the ballpark’s 15-year history; each of the six games will feature ceremonial first pitches, a public address announcer and Target Field’s full assortment of videoboards and LED screens.

DOWNTOWN PARKING REMINDER

Downtown Minneapolis plays host to several events on Friday night and Saturday this weekend, including Twins games, concerts and the NBA playoffs. The Twins encourage all fans to plan ahead, arrive early and consider all transportation options available, including pre-reserved, discounted Twins game day parking in Ramps A & B and the Hawthorne Ramp.

A rundown of the Twins’ second homestand of the 2024 season, including theme nights and ticket deals, follows:

TWINS VS. DETROIT TIGERS: FRIDAY, APRIL 19 – SUNDAY, APRIL 21 (3 GAMES)

Friday, April 19 vs. Detroit Tigers (7:10 p.m.; gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

  • Theme Night – Honoring First Responders (SOLD OUT): Join the Twins for a special night of gratitude for those who serve our communities, as we welcome hundreds of first responders and their families to Target Field. Fans who purchased this sold-out Theme Night package receive a ticket to the game and a limited-edition co-themed First Responders Twins cap (choice of Police, Fire and EMS).
  • Ceremonial First Pitches: Ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Lara Hedegaard and Ryan Perkins, whose family is partnering with the National EMS Museum to celebrate their family’s legacy as pioneers in the field of emergency services and founders of the Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch – Minnesota Timberwolves: Point guard Jordan McLaughlin of the playoff-bound Minnesota Timberwolves will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

Saturday, April 20 vs. Detroit Tigers (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)

  • Cloud State Day (SOLD OUT): All associated with St. Cloud State University are invited to join their fellow Huskies for St. Cloud State Day. Fans who purchased this sold-out Theme Day package receive a ticket to the game, plus an exclusive, co-themed SCSU-Twins jersey (a portion of each ticket sold through this theme night package will support SCSU). Co-themed jerseys are sold out; however, fans can still purchase tickets with a portion of each ticket sold benefitting SCSU. The day’s events include a ceremonial first pitch by SCSU president Dr. Robbyn Wacker.
  • Ceremonial First Pitches – Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest Winners: The Twins’ 2024 MLK Essay Winners will each throw out a ceremonial first pitch; this year’s winners are Sylas Green, a sixth grader at Open World Learning; Na’lah Jennings, a sixth grader at Maxfield Elementary; and Jemiah Walker, an eighth grader at Community of Peace Academy. Students were invited to listen to Dr. King’s speech “The Drum Major Instinct” and write an essay about it and what inspires them to make a difference.
  • Postgame – High School Game: After the conclusion of the Twins-Tigers game, Owatonna and Red Wing will take the field in the first of six regular season high school games hosted at Target Field this season.

Sunday, April 21 vs. Detroit Tigers (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)

  • Kids Day presented by Target and Gillette Children’s: Every Sunday home game at Target Field is Kids Day presented by Target and Gillette Children’s! Among the activities:
  • Thanks to U.S. Bank, kidsmeals are half price – just $4 – at select concession stands.
  • A member of the T.C. Sluggers Kids Club will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
  • Nine lucky kids will take the field with the Twins before the top of the first inning as part of a special Kids Starting Lineup.
  • Postgame, kids can run the bases courtesy of Target and Gillette Children’s.

TWINS VS. CHICAGO WHITE SOX: MONDAY, APRIL 22 – THURSDAY, APRIL 25 (4 GAMES)

Monday, April 22 vs. Chicago White Sox (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Bark at the Park (SOLD OUT): Target Field will go to the dogs on Monday evening, as the Twins host their first-ever Bark at the Park. Fans who purchased this sold-out Theme Night package will receive a ticket to the game, a separate ticket for their dog and an exclusive Twins portable dog water bottle. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket package sold will benefit local nonprofit Can Do Canines, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities by creating mutually-beneficial partnerships with specially-trained dogs. Can Do Canines will also be recognized on the field prior to the game.
  • Earth Day at the “Greenest Ballpark in America”: Since opening Target Field in 2010, the Twins are the first and only MLB club to achieve five separate LEED certifications: LEED Silver for New Construction (in 2010, the second MLB team thus honored); LEED Silver for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (in 2011, making the Twins the first professional sports franchise to earn Silver for both construction and operations); LEED Gold for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (in 2017, becoming the first organization in pro sports to attain Gold in this category); LEED Gold recertification (in 2019); and LEED Platinum (in 2022, becoming the first MLB club to earn the U.S. Green Building Council’s highest possible honor via the new LEED v4.1 rating system).
  • Softball Ceremonial First Pitch: Former University of Minnesota softball pitcher Autumn Pease will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. After earning 2023 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year honors for the Gophers, Pease was named Women’s Professional Fastpitch Pitcher of the Year, following the conclusion of the league’s season last August.
